As part of the programme of activities organised by the ASEAN Committee in Islamabad (ACI), the Embassy of Vietnam in Pakistan, with the participation of Head of the Vietnam Trade Office Nguyen Thi Diep Ha, joined other ASEAN diplomatic missions in strengthening business connections, engaging with leaders of Sindh province and promoting cultural exchanges. These activities contributed to deepening ASEAN-Pakistan relations and expanding opportunities for Vietnam-Pakistan cooperation.
Strengthening business connections between Vietnam, ASEAN and Pakistan
On 29 October, the ACI delegation attended the Pakistan-ASEAN Business Dialogue at the headquarters of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI), under the theme “Navigating Our Future Together”.
Representatives of the Embassy of Vietnam joined ASEAN diplomats and Pakistani business leaders in discussions on prospects for expanding trade and investment, strengthening market connectivity and addressing barriers to economic cooperation.
During the dialogue, the FPCCI proposed establishing a regular mechanism for Pakistan-ASEAN business engagement, increasing direct trade exchanges and visits by business delegations, and facilitating visa procedures and transport links. Proposals for business forums, coordination focal points and sector-specific working groups were also put forward to translate discussions into substantive cooperation.
For Vietnam, these discussions were particularly relevant as the two countries are advancing negotiations on a Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA), with a view to expanding bilateral trade. Closer engagement with the FPCCI and the business community in Karachi, Pakistan's major economic, commercial and port hub, will help businesses from both countries identify partners and explore new opportunities for cooperation.
Expanding cooperation with the Sindh provincial authorities
On 30 October, the ACI delegation paid courtesy calls on Sindh Governor Syed Muhammad Nehal Hashmi and Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah. Representatives of the Embassy of Vietnam joined the delegation in discussions on strengthening ASEAN-Pakistan relations, economic cooperation, sustainable development and people-to-people exchanges.
During the meeting with the Chief Minister, Sindh's leadership invited ASEAN businesses to explore investment opportunities in agriculture, food processing, information technology, pharmaceuticals, energy, industry, logistics and tourism. The provincial authorities also expressed their readiness to facilitate investment.

For Vietnam, the meetings with Sindh's leaders provided an opportunity to strengthen ties with the provincial authorities, gain insights into local investment priorities and promote trade connections in the Pakistani market. As part of the programme, the delegation also took part in a tree-planting activity at the “ASEAN Corner” at Governor House, conveying a message of environmental cooperation and green development.
Promoting cultural diplomacy and people-to-people exchanges
Alongside economic activities and meetings with provincial authorities, the ACI delegation participated in academic exchanges with representatives of educational institutions and students in Karachi. Discussions covered scholarships, research, technology and youth connections.
The delegation also attended activities held as part of the Karachi World Culture Festival 2026, helping to foster greater mutual understanding between the people of Pakistan and ASEAN member states.
The Embassy of Vietnam's participation in the ACI programme in Karachi further reaffirmed Vietnam's proactive and active engagement in ASEAN's joint activities in Pakistan. Through coordination with ASEAN partners, the Embassy also advanced bilateral priorities in trade, investment, education and culture, contributing to increasingly substantive and effective Vietnam-Pakistan relations.
