This is one of six courses funded by New Zealand, with implementation support from the British Council, aimed at enhancing the capacity of officials and staff involved in organizing and chairing APEC meetings. Taking place from 24 to 26 June 2026, the course brings together officials from various Vietnamese ministries and agencies who are directly engaged in the organization, coordination, and chairing of meetings within the framework of APEC in 2027.
In his opening remarks, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ngo Le Van emphasized that Viet Nam’s hosting of APEC in 2027 carries special significance, reflecting Viet Nam’s commitments to advancing regional cooperation, economic integration, and inclusive growth, while demonstrating its role as a responsible and proactive member of the APEC community.

To ensure the successful fulfillment of Vietnam’s responsibilities as the host economy of APEC in 2027, the Deputy Minister emphasised that strengthening the knowledge, expertise, and practical skills of officials involved in organizing, coordinating, and chairing APEC meetings and conferences is one of its key priorities.
The Deputy Minister expressed his appreciation to the Embassy of New Zealand and the British Council for their valuable support in sharing practical experiences through the training program. He conveyed confidence that the course would equip participants with practical knowledge and skills, thereby contributing to Viet Nam’s successful preparations for and hosting of APEC in 2027.

New Zealand Ambassador to Vietnam Caroline Beresford commended Vietnam's strong commitment and proactive efforts in preparing for the APEC 2027 Host Year. The Ambassador expressed appreciation for the close cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the APEC Vietnam Secretariat, and the British Council in formulating and delivering the training program. The Ambassador reaffirmed New Zealand's readiness to work closely with Vietnam in strengthening the capacity of officials responsible for organizing, coordinating, and chairing APEC meetings and conferences in preparation for the APEC 2027 Host Year.
The Ambassador also noted that the course serves as a tangible example of strong and effective cooperation between the two countries under their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

Mr. James Shipton, Director of the British Council in Vietnam, expressed the British Council’s honour to work alongside the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the New Zealand Embassy in strengthening the capacity of officials responsible for the preparation and implementation of the APEC 2027 Host Year.
James Shipton emphasized that participants would benefit from expertise of experienced international trainers and British Council tutors, enabling them to strengthen their skills in meeting management, consensus-building, and effective handling of complex situations in APEC meetings and other multilateral settings.

As part of this initiative, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the New Zealand Embassy in Vietnam with the coordination from the British Council will provide a series of capacity-building courses on meeting management and chairing skills for more than 100 officials from relevant ministries and agencies involved in the preparations for the APEC 2027 Host Year.
