The Royal Thai Embassy celebrates 'Vui Tết Songkran 2024'

The event took place at the Royal Thai Embassy in Hanoi and was fully attended by the Dean of Diplomatic Corps, esteemed Ambassadors, Vietnamese government representatives, media and students.
The recognition of Songkran as an intangible cultural heritage by UNESCO signifies its cultural significance to the Thai people. To further showcase Thai traditions and cultural values, the Thai Government has organized the “Maha Songkran World Water Festival” throughout the country this month. The festival aims to attract tourists from around the world and has been identified as one of the top 10 global events.
Thailand has experienced a significant influx of Vietnamese tourists, with over 1 million visitors in 2023. The availability of frequent flights by airlines between Viet Nam and Thailand has further strengthened the tourism ties between the two countries. It is expected that the number of Vietnamese tourists visiting Thailand will surpass 1 million this year.

During the inauguration ceremony, Ambassador Nikorndej Balankura emphasized the close relationship between Thailand and Vietnam. The leaders of both countries are scheduled to meet in the middle of this year, along with cabinet members, to discuss elevating the bilateral relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. This partnership aims to expand and deepen cooperation in various sectors, including trade, investment, culture, tourism, and people-to-people interactions, the Ambassador said.
The “Vui Tết Songkran 2024” celebration provides a unique opportunity to experience the rich cultural heritage of Thailand. From the sacred Buddha Water Pouring Ceremony to the culinary showcase, Thai Boxing demonstrations, and the lively Maha Songkran Water Splashing, each activity reflects the vibrancy, diversity, and warmth of Thai culture.
