According to the Office of Viet Nam's National Assembly, the first session of the 15th National Assembly shall be convened from July 20th to July 31st, 2021.

The organization and high-ranking personnel of the State are the key contents of the first session of the 15th National Assembly. At this session, the National Assembly will spend 3 working days to review and decide on the organization and personnel as follows:

The National Assembly shall review and decide on the number of Vice Presidents of the National Assembly and members of the National Assembly Standing Committee; elect the President of the National Assembly, Vice Chairmen of the National Assembly, members of the National Assembly Standing Committee; elect the General Secretary of the National Assembly, the Chairman of the Ethnic Council, the Chairmen of the Committees of the National Assembly, the State Auditor General.

The National Assembly shall elect the State President, Prime Minister, Vice State President, Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court, and Chief Procurator of the Supreme People's Procuracy.

The National Assembly shall decide the organizational structure and the number of Government members; approve the appointment of Deputy Prime Ministers, Ministers and other members of the Government; approve the list of Vice Presidents and members of the National Defense and Security Council (if any); approve the appointment of Judges of the Supreme People's Court.

Right after being elected by the National Assembly, the National Assembly President, State President, Prime Minister, Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court will take the oath of office before the National Assembly as stipulated by the 2013 Constitution.

At this session, the National Assembly will review the following reports: Evaluation on the results of the implementation of the socio-economic development plan and the state budget in the first half of the year and solutions for the implementation of the socio-economic development plan and state budget in the second half of 2021; thrift practice and waste prevention in 2020. The National Assembly shall approve the final settlement of the state budget in 2019.

The National Assembly will review and decide the 5-year socio-economic development plan for the period 2021-2025; national 5-year financial plan for the period of 2021-2025; Plan on borrowing and repaying public debt for the period of 2021-2025; Medium-term public investment plan for the period of 2021-2025; Investment policy of the National Target Program on New Rural Construction; Poverty reduction and sustainable social security for the period of 2021-2025.

At this session, the National Assembly will hear report on the election of deputies to the 15th National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels for the 2021-2026 term by the National Election Council; Report of the Vietnam Fatherland Front on the petitions of the people sent to the first session of the 15 the National Assembly; review and approve the National Assembly's resolutions on the law-making program for 2022, its oversight program for 2022 and establishment of thematic oversight mission.

The opening and closing session; the oath taking ceremony by the National Assembly President, State President, Prime Minister, Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court; discussion sessions on socio-economic and state budget will be broadcasted live on Vietnam Television (VTV1), Voice of Vietnam (VOV1) and Vietnam National Assembly Television.
