The Eastern slope of Tam Dao, located in Thai Nguyen Province, stretches nearly 100 kilometers across the communes of Phu Xuyen, La Bang, Dai Tu, Van Phu, Quan Chu, Dai Phuc, Thanh Cong, and Phuc Thuan Ward. The tea hills here not only sustain generations of local people but also serve as “magnets” attracting visitors.

Particularly captivating are the centuries-old tea trees discovered on the Tam Dao range, which add depth to the stories of land and people in the tea-growing region. The area also boasts majestic yet poetic landscapes, making it an ideal destination for adventure-loving tourists.
According to Mr. Truong Thuy Luan, a local with years of tourism experience, the greatest advantages are the waterfalls and primeval forests. This is also one of the rare places in northern Vietnam where visitors can try ziplining and canyoning. A favorite spot is Tien cave, where roaring streams plunge down into deep turquoise natural pools of mesmerizing beauty.
Beyond its natural landscapes, nationally recognized historical sites further enhance the appeal of this land. These include the birthplace of the first Party cell in Thai Nguyen Province; the Nguyen Hue Revolutionary Base, where 12 Party members once escaped Cho Chu Prison to ignite the nation’s pre-uprising fire; Tay Thien Truc Pagoda, built in the late Le-Nguyen dynasties and linked to the legend of the “Five Tigers of Tam Dao”; and Lan Than, the founding site of the Cao Son Guerrilla Team, later renamed the Pham Hong Thai Liberation Platoon during the anti-Japanese and anti-French resistance.

In recent years, transport infrastructure has steadily improved, making travel easier for residents in the area, boosting trade, and fostering tourism. After more than three years of construction since May 2022, a 42.5 km inter-provincial road linking Thai Nguyen-Bac Giang (now Bac Ninh)-Vinh Phuc (now Phu Tho) with an investment of over VND 4,000 billion has been completed. This road shortens travel time, eases traffic pressure, opens new development spaces for localities, and creates opportunities for tourism growth.
Additionally, the recent completion of a nearly 20 km renovation and upgrade of provincial road 261, running through most of the communes, has transformed the landscape and improved connectivity both within and beyond the province. Other key transport projects, such as ring road V, the Thai Nguyen-Tuyen Quang connection road, the Nui Coc lake road, and the upgrading or construction of 15 district-to-provincial roads, have created favorable conditions for socio-economic development in general and tourism in particular.
Notably, the Tan Thai Nui Coc lake Entertainment, Housing, and Golf Complex Project, covering 220 hectares with an estimated investment of VND 2,500 billion, is considered one of the largest golf course projects in Thai Nguyen. More than just serving golf enthusiasts, it also integrates amusement, resort, and residential areas, with the ambition of becoming a premium tourism and service complex.
Another groundbreaking project, not only for the Eastern slope of Tam Dao but also for Thai Nguyen as a whole, is the Flamingo Majestic Island Resort. Spanning more than 61 hectares, it broke ground in mid-March 2025 at Nui Coc lake.
With projects ranging from luxury golf courses and eco-resorts to lakefront hotel and restaurant complexes, the Eastern slope of Tam Dao in particular, and Thai Nguyen tourism in general, promises to be an ideal destination for both domestic and international visitors.
