This is NA Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue's first visit to China as Head of Vietnam's legislative body. It also marks the first face-to-face meeting between the Heads of the legislative bodies of the two countries following the 13th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, underlining the visit's exceptional importance.
Occurring as Vietnam and China have just surpassed the 15-year milestone of establishing a Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership (2008-2023) and are approaching another major milestone - the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations (January 18, 1950 - 2025), the visit is expected to create a far-reaching impact and a strong dynamic and impetus for the development of relations between the two neighboring countries...
NA Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue's presence in Beijing is part of a series of high-level exchanges between the two countries in recent years, contributing to the enhancement of political trust, solidifying the political foundation of the relationship between the two parties and countries. The historic reciprocal visits by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong (October 2022) and General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping (December 2023) have added powerful momentum for both parties and countries to continuously consolidate and elevate the friendly and comprehensive cooperative relationship between Vietnam and China. According to journalist Nguy Vi, Head of the Vietnamese Department of China Media Group (CMG), following the successful visit of General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping to Vietnam, the relationship between the two countries has entered its best phase.
Notably, the visit comes just days after Vietnamese Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son concluded his official visit to China (April 3-4). At the first meeting between the two Foreign Ministers after elevating the Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership and agreeing to build a community with a shared future of strategic significance, both sides reaffirmed the top priority of Vietnam-China relations in each country's foreign policy.
Reflecting on NA Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue's visit from April 7-12, Vietnamese Ambassador to China Pham Sao Mai emphasized the importance of maintaining high-level exchanges, strategic orientation for bilateral relations, and materializing the "6 greater" cooperation directions, according to the Joint Statement released during President Xi Jinping's visit last year.
In the current context where the relationship between the Vietnamese National Assembly and the National People's Congress of China is continuously strengthened and developing well, Ambassador Pham Sao Mai says, the visit will deepen and enhance the effectiveness of cooperation between the two legislative bodies; affirming the very important role of our National Assembly's external affairs in the country's development.
Regarding exchanges between the legislative bodies of the two countries as an integral part of the relationship between the two Parties and States, the Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam Xiong Bo believes that during the development of relations between the two countries, the legislative bodies have maintained close exchanges. In March last year, following the election of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of China for its 14th term, Chairman Zhao Leji held his first online meeting with NA Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue.
Thus, this visit by the Head of the Vietnamese legislature also "continues the close exchanges between the legislative bodies of the two countries," Ambassador Xiong Bo emphasized.
As a significant interaction between the high-level leaders of the two parties and countries to maintain and enhance strategic exchanges, the busy itinerary of NA Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue in the populous nation is expected to yield substantive results, contributing to the actualization of the new achievements and the comprehensive nature of the Vietnam-China Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership.
