Startup and innovation are important driving forces for the country's development in the new period, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly (NA) Nguyen Duc Hai has said.

He made the remarks at a meeting with young entrepreneurs with outstanding startup results in 2024 in Hanoi on August 9.

The NA Vice Chairman affirmed that the Party and State always pay attention to, encourage and create conditions for young entrepreneurs to implement their startups and innovations, especially in the context of globalisation, international integration and the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

The socio-economic situation, evolved with many advantages but also challenges, requires entrepreneurs and enterprises to constantly make innovations and improve competitiveness so as to help the country confidently integrate into the world, Hai said.

Congratulating young entrepreneurs who are honoured to be “Outstanding Young Entrepreneurs in 2024”, especially those who are named as top 10 outstanding young startup entrepreneurs, Hai asked them to promote their sense of responsibility, perform their tasks better, continue to cultivate ethics, business culture, make contributions, promote social responsibility, and uphold law-abiding spirit in business.

Enterprises should thoroughly grasp and effectively implement the Party's and State’s policies and actively contribute to building and finetuning laws on enterprises, investment, business, tax, finance, and labour, he continued.

Enterprises run by 86 outstanding young Vietnamese entrepreneurs generated a combined revenue of 2.5 trillion VND (over 99 million USD), and contributed 51.6 billion VND to the State budget last year.

Companied owned by top 10 outstanding young startup entrepreneurs generated 1.1 trillion VND in revenue in 2023, and contributed 31.2 billion VND to the State budget and created jobs for 3,722 labourers.
