Welcoming the Vietnamese diplomat on March 10, President Sall said he hopes the envoy will make active contributions to the friendship and cooperation between the two nations.

The host leader highly valued Vietnam’s struggle for national independence, liberation and defence in the past as well as its reform and development successes at present.

He said Senegal and Vietnam are friends with a long-standing friendship, voicing his hope for stronger bilateral cooperation in such fields as trade, investment, agriculture and industry.

The President also described their partnership in wet rice cultivation as a good experience and noted that Vietnamese dishes are very popular in his country.

For his part, Vinh expressed his honour to serve as Vietnam’s top representative in Senegal, a country with culture associated with rivers like Vietnam and a fastest GDP growth rate in Africa in recent years.

He also repeated Vietnamese Party General Secretary and State President Nguyen Phu Trong’s invitation to visit the country to the Senegalese President.

The diplomat affirmed that Vietnam always treasures and wishes to enhance the traditional friendship and multifaceted collaboration with Senegal, especially in the areas both have strength in such as agriculture, marine economy and trade.

He vowed utmost efforts to help enhance the two countries’ friendship and cooperation in the time ahead.

On March 9, Ambassador Vinh presented a copy of his credentials to Senegalese Foreign Minister Amadou Ba, who said the two nations boast time-tested relations and share common values, and that his country looks to promote all-round ties with Vietnam.

Vinh also conveyed Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh’s invitation to visit Vietnam to Minister Amadou Ba. He pledged to coordinate closely with relevant agencies to bring bilateral relations to a new height.
