With the support of the Vietnamese Government, especially on the development of essential infrastructure in different sectors such as transportation, electricity, healthcare, education,… Quang Tri is gradually meeting the needs of businesses and people’s daily lives. Especially, from 2015, when the Prime Minister decided to establish the Southeast Economic Zone of Quang Tri with a total area of 23,792 hectares, creating great opportunities for attracting investment, promoting economic and social development.

Quang Tri is also taking the executive decisions, drastic measures to promoting administrative reform, improving the business environment and competitiveness. Besides, the province is mobilizing considerable resources to build and develop industrial parks, industrial clusters, and seaports; concentrating on investment, upgrading tourist spots and routes, having a lot of incentive policies to invest in the field of sea tourism and tourist resorts; supporting commercial businesses and services and import/export… Therefore, the GRDP of Quang Tri has grown strongly over the years, reaching 7.5%/year in the 2016-2018 period, and 7.72% in 2019… creating a solid foundation for Quang Tri to accelerate and breakthrough in the near future.

With clearly defined investment fields, to become an energy center in the Central region, along with the increasing attraction of investment, Quang Tri is actively reviewing its plannings, and building appropriate transmission lines to accelerate the progress of power generation projects, especially wind and solar power.

The province also promotes the development of services and tourism, especially the historical destinations and organizing "Festival for Peace" in the coming time.

In order to implement the aforementioned directions, exploit the advantages and reach its full potentials, Quang Tri is focusing on the development of transports and road infrastructure, investing in building a number of routes along the East-West corridor, speeding up the construction of My Thuy deep-water seaport, Quang Tri airport, building National Highway 15D, establishing La Lay border-gate economic zone, bypass route in the East of Dong Ha City.

In 2020, with the theme “Drastic action – Comprehensive finish – Breakthrough”, Quang Tri is implementing synchronous tasks and solutions, focusing on promoting administrative reform, improve the investment and business environment, improve the PCI index, in order to create favorable conditions for businesses and investors, solving any undesirable difficulties, accompanying closely with businesses.

After 3 years of 2016, 2017 and 2018, Quang Tri’s PCI Index has increased in both scores and rankings. In 2019, Quang Tri ranked 49th out of 63 cities and provinces, with 63.84 points, up 4 places compared to 2018 and up 5 places compared to 2017. From an average province, Quang Tri has risen up to a good group. Now, Quang Tri is assessed to have a favorable business and investment environment. In 2019, the province attracted 87 projects and total capital of 43,197 billion VND, and begin the construction of 30 projects with a total investment of 113,000 billion VND...

With 75km of coastline with a rich source of seafood (60.000 tons/year); abundant reserves of silica sand; plenty of opportunities for traditional and renewable energy production; a bunch of beautiful landscapes, which can develop various types of tourism; new infrastructure projects such as deepwater port and a new highway, will attract a large volume of goods from the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) countries and distribute them to all over the world.

Quang Tri is a bridge connecting the North and the South of Vietnam, which is located on national arterial roads in terms of roads, railways and waterways. It is the first province in Vietnam located on the East-West Economic Corridor connecting with Laos - Thailand – Myanmar. Quang Tri also has a giant forest area, one of the top largest in Vietnam (over 253,856 hectares), of which the 22,000 hectares of timber plantation area has been granted sustainable forest management certificate, which is very convenient for the development of the wood processing industry and exported wood products.

Quang Tri also is the home of various beautiful landscapes, special historical destinations, which can develop different types of tourism. In the future, new infrastructure projects such as My Thuy deep-water seaport in Southeastern Economic Zone, National Road 15D from My Thuy seaport to La Lay international border gate will create an additional corridor besides East-West Economic Corridor (PARAEWEC) and will attract a large volume of goods from the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) countries and distribute them to all over the world.

With these advantages, Quang Tri has all the favorable conditions to develop an all-rounded, multidisciplinary economy, from agriculture, industry, transportation, trade, tourism, services… and cooperate with other provinces and cities nationwide and foreign investors, especially enterprises in ASEAN and Northeast Asia.
