Promoting clean production in Quang Ninh
Most investment projects at the Dong Mai Industrial Park in Quang Yen Town have committed to implementing green production.

Nguyen Thi Ngoc Ha, Head of the Administration Department of the Bumjin Electronics Vina Co., Ltd in Dong Mai IP said, during construction, the company must ensure the ratio of trees to create green space in accordance with commitments with the province. It also stopped the operation of a foundry – which is considered at high risk of environmental pollution to support the provincial policy from a “brown” to a “green” economy.
Deputy Director of Dong Mai IP management board Nguyen Manh Cuong shared: both the investor and locality have effectively operated automatic environmental monitoring and wastewater treatment systems.
So far, the wastewater treatment station of Dong Mai IP has been invested synchronously, applying chemical and physical treatment technology combined with micro-organisms, to ensure that the discharged water meets standards regulated by ministries and sectors.
Meanwhile, the Khe Cham coal screening plant of the Vinacomin-Cua Ong Coal Preparation Company ensures clean production and reduces noise to the environment through modern monitoring, measurement and control systems and a coal conveyor system that saves transportation costs.

The Mong Duong thermal power plant has also installed an automatic monitoring system to continuously monitor parameters like industrial exhaust smoke and wastewater, and domestic wastewater; as well as other systems like cameras, an automatic system to get sewage samples; and a system of electric meters for electrostatic filters.
The plant has also built a system to treat ash, slag, exhaust gas, wastewater, solid waste, and hazardous waste by applying synchronous, supportive technologies. The entire amount of ash and slag of the plant is transported to a system of pumping stations and wet slag discharge pipelines to help prevent dust from being released into the environment.
Sustainable consumption habits
Quang Ninh has also implemented many programs to reduce plastic waste.
Pham Duy Thanh, Deputy Director of the Quang Ninh Provincial Department of Industry and Trade, said that since 2019, the department has organized activities in response to the “anti-plastic waste” movement in the industry and trade sector.
To change consumer awareness and habits, the Department has strengthened and personified plastic waste campaigns in the province on mass media and banners.
“Supermarkets in the province have pledged to battle plastic waste by using only biodegradable plastic products, encouraging suppliers to use environmentally friendly packaging and recycled paper to replace plastic bags. All waste from business activities is collected, classified at the source, then transported to treatment and recycling facilities in accordance with the law,” Thanh added.
