At a reception for the delegation, Mario Sabines Lorenzo, First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) of Matanzas province, briefed on the locality’s potential and strengths, while underlining the need for Cuban and Vietnamese localities to strengthen relations in all aspects, especially in Party building and political-ideological work.
For his part, Deputy Secretary Dung, who is also Chairman of the People’s Council of Quang Nam, highlighted the potential for cooperation between the two countries’ localities in tourism, agriculture, industry, forestry, health care, and education.
In a meeting with the delegation, Emilio Lozada García, member of the PCC Central Committee and Head of its Foreign Affairs Department, reaffirmed the brotherly bond and special friendship between the people of the two countries, saying that the visit contributes to promoting cooperation between Cuban and Vietnamese localities.
Dung said the trip is part of activities aimed at concretising the Joint Declaration of senior leaders of the two countries during Vietnamese Party General Secretary and President To Lam’s recent visit to Cuba.
At a working session with President of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP) Fernando González Llort, the two sides reaffirmed their determination to promote relations between friendship organisations, and emphasised the importance of raising awareness and educating young people about the steadfast and long-lasting solidarity and friendship between the two nations.
The Vietnamese official thanked the Cuban people for their selfless and heartfelt assistance to Vietnam’s national protection and construction cause, stressing that Vietnam always stands side by side with Cuba in all circumstances.
On the occasion, the delegation visited and presented gifts to students of Nguyen Van Troi primary school, visited the Vietnamese Embassy, and laid a wreath at the monument of President Ho Chi Minh in the park named after the late leader in Havana.
