16 Vietnamese repatriated through Quang Binh border after failed labour migration
16 Vietnamese citizens are handed over to the border guard force at the Cha Lo International Border Gate in the central province of Quang Binh.

The citizens left Vietnam between early 2023 and late 2024, flying to Thailand and Myanmar in search of employment opportunities. They then attempted to return to Vietnam due to low wages in their destination countries, expired temporary residence permits, and fear of penalties by local authorities.

The individuals were apprehended by Lao authorities when they were crossing the border to Vietnam.

According to investigation from the People's Committee of Quang Binh province and the provincial border guard command, none of the citizens had prior criminal records or violations of Vietnamese law. They received medical examination before returning to their hometowns.

Authorities and police in their residential areas have been notified to continue monitoring these individuals.
