During his three-day visit to Algeria, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh engaged in numerous significant activities. Upon arrival, Algerian Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb welcomed the Prime Minister and his spouse at the airport, where an official reception ceremony was held.
The Head of the Vietnamese Government held talks with his counterpart, Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb, where both sides agreed to elevate their relationship to a Strategic Partnership. The Prime Minister also met with President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, Chairman of the National Council (Senate) Azzouz Nasri, and Speaker of the People's National Assembly (Algeria's Lower House) Brahim Boughali.
In these meetings, leaders from both countries emphasized the historical and current connections, solidarity in the past, present, and future as the foundation for building strong nations. Both sides valued the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Algeria as a priceless common asset that should be preserved, promoted, and elevated to new heights in line with the aspirations and interests of their peoples.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh stated that in the current context, the two countries need to “unite for strength, cooperate for mutual benefit, and engage in dialogue for trust”. With the motto “listening together, understanding together, trusting together, acting together, developing together”, they aim to create breakthroughs in bilateral relations.
The Head of the Government emphasized that despite changes over time and in the world, the bond between Vietnam and Algeria remains unchanged. They have always stood by each other during the toughest times, and now more than ever, they need to unite for development, to build prosperous nations, and to ensure the well-being and happiness of their people.
In this spirit, the Prime Minister suggested that both sides prioritize implementing key solutions, including strengthening political trust, increasing delegation exchanges, and prioritizing each other in foreign policies.
During the visit, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb attended and spoke at the Vietnam-Algeria Business Forum. Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb invited Algerian investors to negotiate with Vietnamese businesses to explore specific cooperation opportunities, enabling Algeria to export more of its strong products to the Vietnamese market and vice versa. The Vietnamese Prime Minister stated that Vietnamese enterprises could invest in Algeria “from tea cultivation to chip production”, highlighting its feasibility.
Also during the visit, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with leaders of a number of Algerian businesses and organizations; laid a wreath in memory of Algerian martyrs. The Prime Minister and his spouse visited the National Museum of Algerian Veterans; toured Ho Chi Minh Boulevard and inaugurated a Memorial Stele honouring President Ho Chi Minh's life and career; visited the Vovinam Federation and attended a Vovinam performance by the Algerian national team.
