From the first Vovinam class in Algeria in 2001, with 41 practitioners, the Vietnamese martial art has spread across the country and into many other African nations over the past 25 years. Currently, Algeria hosts hundreds of Vovinam clubs across 37 out of 58 provinces and cities, making it one of the countries with the largest number of practitioners, second only to Vietnam.

Attending the performance by Algeria's National Vovinam Team and athletes from the Vovinam Federation in Algeria, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expressed gratitude to the Algerian friends and 31,000 Vovinam athletes in Algeria. He acknowledged not only their noble sports spirit and community health efforts but also their special affection for Vietnam and the martial art of Vovinam.
The Prime Minister wished for the everlasting friendship between Vietnam and Algeria and the enduring spirit of Vovinam.
This was the final activity of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh during his official visit to the Republic of Algeria. On the same evening, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his spouse, along with the high-level Vietnamese delegation, departed Algeria for South Africa to attend the G20 Summit and engage in bilateral activities in South Africa at the invitation of the President of the Republic of South Africa, G20 Chair in 2025, Matamela Cyril Ramaphosa.
