A resolution on the election was adopted with all 479 deputies present, or 95,99 percent of total lawmakers, voting “yes”. The document takes effect right after it was approved by the legislature.
A swearing-in ceremony for Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh was held immediately after the vote outcome was announced.
In his inaugural remarks after the ceremony, Pham, aged 63, expressed sympathy to residents over the hardships, both materially and spiritually, due to the imposition of social distancing and lockdown measures to contain COVID-19.
As protection of the public’s health, security and safety is the first and foremost goal, Pham emphasized that the Government considers the fight against COVID-19 as the urgent and top task now.
He vowed to take concrete measures to reform the national administration system, create favorable environment for national development, accelerate decentralization of authority, promote activeness at all administrative levels, and combat corruption.
Pham committed to continue improving the socialist-oriented market economy institutions, with an immediate focus on removing barriers and bottlenecks against economic activities.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh was born on 10th December 1958 in central province of Thanh Hoa. He is a Politburo member of the 12th, 13th tenures, member of the Party Central Committee of the 11th, 12th, 13th tenures, and NA deputy of the 14th and 15th tenures.
At the 11th session of the 14th National Assembly in April 2021, he was elected as Prime Minister.
