Party General Secretary To Lam meets U.S. President Donald Trump on the occasion of attending the Opening Meeting of the Board of Peace on Gaza in Washington, D.C (USA).

In an open and cordial atmosphere, both sides exchanged various topics regarding bilateral cooperation as well as global and regional issues of mutual concern.

During the meeting, General Secretary To Lam congratulated the United States and President Donald Trump on successfully organizing the Opening Meeting of the Board of Peace on Gaza. The General Secretary emphasized that Vietnam was among the first countries to accept the invitation to join the Board of Peace on Gaza and is ready to collaborate with the U.S. and other Council members to implement the peace plan.

General Secretary To Lam affirmed that Vietnam always values and seeks to promote a stable, substantive, and effective Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with the United States. General Secretary To Lam proposed that both sides enhance delegation exchanges and high-level contacts. Discussing economic-trade relations, the General Secretary highlighted this as a key pillar in the Vietnam-U.S. Comprehensive Strategic Partnership; he expressed a desire for both sides to continue frank and substantive dialogues on existing issues in a spirit of balanced and harmonious interests, suitable to the conditions and legitimate interests of each side, for the benefit of businesses and people of both countries.

President Donald Trump congratulated General Secretary To Lam on being re-elected as General Secretary of the 14th Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam and expressed his pleasure in welcoming the General Secretary to the White House.

President Donald Trump expressed his affection for the Vietnamese people and personally for General Secretary To Lam. He reiterated the U.S. commitment to supporting a “strong, independent, resilient, and prosperous” Vietnam.

President Donald Trump welcomed and thanked Vietnam for declaring its participation in the Board of Peace on Gaza; he highly appreciated General Secretary To Lam's direct attendance at the Opening Meeting of the Board of Peace on Gaza, considering it a reflection of Vietnam's growing role and position on the international stage, as well as its strong commitment to global peace, stability, and cooperation.

President Donald Trump praised Vietnam's efforts in balancing the bilateral trade balance and the valuable contracts recently signed during General Secretary To Lam's visit.

President Donald Trump responded positively to Vietnam's proposals on economic, scientific, and technological cooperation. He stated that he would direct relevant agencies to soon remove Vietnam from the strategic export control list (D1 - D3).

President Donald Trump affirmed that the U.S. continues to regard Vietnam as an important partner in the region; he appreciated Vietnam's increasing role and voice in regional and multilateral forums.

On this occasion, General Secretary To Lam extended a cordial invitation to President Donald Trump and the First Lady to visit Vietnam soon. President Donald Trump gladly accepted the invitation and stated he would visit Vietnam shortly.
