Overseas Vietnamese celebrate "Xuan Que huong 2024", enjoying Lunar New Year Tet atmosphere.

WVR - On February 1, in a heartwarming display of cultural connection and national unity, one hundred overseas Vietnamese (OVs) from 28 nations and territories returned to Vietnam to participate in the 'Xuan Que huong 2024' (Homeland Spring) program.

The "Xuan Que huong" program, held annually on the eve of the Lunar New Year (Tet), serves as a significant platform for celebrating and connecting with outstanding Vietnamese individuals residing abroad. In attendance, there are distinguished guests, including leaders and former leaders of the Party and State, Head of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs, as well as other representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, governmental bodies, reflecting the importance and scale of this grand event.

With the "Xuan Que huong" program as a bridge connecting Vietnamese communities worldwide, it also presents a unique opportunity for Party and State leaders to engage with overseas Vietnamese and gain insights into their thoughts, aspirations, and concerns. This exchange of ideas strengthens the bond between the Vietnamese community abroad and the homeland, fostering a sense of shared identity and a collective vision for a prosperous future.

The program's framework encompasses a diverse range of activities, providing OVs with ample opportunities to immerse themselves in the festive atmosphere of Tet. From cultural performances to traditional cuisine showcases, participants will experience the richness and vibrancy of Vietnamese heritage. Such engagements not only rekindle a sense of belonging but also allow OVs to reconnect with their roots and establish lasting connections with fellow compatriots.

The "Xuan Que huong" program serves as the largest political, external, and cultural gathering of Vietnamese people, both at home and abroad. It exemplifies the Government's commitment to nurturing and strengthening ties with the Vietnamese diaspora, recognizing their invaluable contributions to the nation's development. As part of the festivities in 2024, Ho Chi Minh City's Management Authority for Urban Railways (MAUR) conducted a full-line test run on Metro Line 1, which links Ben Thanh in District 1 with Suoi Tien in Thu Duc city. This initiative aimed to facilitate convenient transportation for the OVs during their stay, ensuring their seamless access to the various program activities.
