National online conference on implementing the election of National Assembly and People's Council deputies
WVR - On the morning of February 26, at the National Assembly House, National Assembly Chairman and Chairman of the National Election Council Tran Thanh Man chaired the national online conference to implement the election of deputies for the 16th National Assembly and People's Council deputies for the 2026-2031 term.

The conference was connected online with 34 provincial hubs and 3,321 communal hubs.
The conference was co-chaired by: Bui Thi Minh Hoai, Politburo Member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Vice Chairman of the National Election Council; Vo Thi Anh Xuan, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Vice President, Vice Chairman of the National Election Council; Nguyen Hoa Binh, Permanent Deputy Prime Minister, Vice Chairman of the National Election Council; Nguyen Thi Thanh, Member of the Party Central Committee, Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly, Member of the National Election Council.
Attending at the National Assembly House hub were members of the National Election Council; representatives of government leaders, representatives of the Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, leaders of central committees, ministries, sectors, and organizations, and leaders of the subcommittees of the National Election Council.
In her opening remarks, Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thị Thanh, a member of the National Election Council, emphasized the significant importance of the conference in assessing the results achieved in election preparation, candidly recognizing existing issues and challenges to devise solutions for successfully organizing the election, scheduled for March 15.

This election introduces several new elements, marking the first time it is conducted under the two-tier local government system, shortening the timeline for election procedures, and enhancing the application of information technology and digital transformation in the election process.
The Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly noted that with only 17 days remaining until the election, the time is limited but crucial. The remaining workload is significant, requiring intense focus, meticulous and synchronized execution to ensure the overall success of the election.
“The Politburo places special attention on this election and has issued an important conclusion with four key points regarding: personnel work; electing the full number of National Assembly deputies, including full-time deputies at the central level, and electing the full number of People's Council deputies; information and communication work, and reporting mechanisms,” Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Thanh emphasised.

The Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly highlighted the directive from General Secretary To Lam at the national conference on election implementation on November 15, 2025: This is an opportunity to affirm the Party's leadership capacity, the State's management effectiveness, and the operational efficiency of the political system in the context of recently completing organizational streamlining.
Therefore, this election is identified as a key political task for 2026. The task for the entire Party, people, and military is to organize the preparation work well, ensuring the election is successful, democratic, lawful, safe, economical, and truly a major festival for the entire nation.
Noting the substantial workload remaining in election preparation, the conference was conducted with a spirit of innovation, brevity, and effectiveness. The Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly urged participants to focus on studying the materials, engage in lively discussions, and contribute many ideas to the success of the conference.
Following this, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan, Vice Chairman of the National Election Council, presided over the session where representatives from agencies presented reports on the results of the preparation for the election of deputies for the 16th National Assembly and People's Council deputies for the 2026-2031 term.
