NA Chairman Tran Thanh Man hails Malaysian Ambassador Tan Yang Thai’s contributions to parliamentary ties

WVR/VNA - On the afternoon of August 6, at the National Assembly House, National Assembly (NA) Chairman Tran Thanh Man received Malaysian Ambassador Tan Yang Thai for a farewell visit as he concludes his term in Vietnam.

During the meeting, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man congratulated the Ambassador on successfully completing his term and highly appreciated his significant contributions to promoting cooperative relations between the two countries in general, and between their National Assemblies in particular, thereby deepening the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and Malaysia.

Chairman Tran Thanh Man emphasised that the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and Malaysia is developing extensively, substantively, and effectively across multiple fields. Political trust and bilateral cooperation, both in general and between the two National Assemblies, have been strengthened through delegation exchanges and interactions across Party, State, National Assembly, people-to-people, and local channels, as well as coordination in multilateral forums. Economic cooperation plays a crucial role and is a highlight in bilateral relations.

The Chairman expressed his hope for the parliamentary relations between the two countries to continue expanding, including promoting a cooperation agreement between the Vietnamese National Assembly and the Malaysian House of Representatives and Senate, serving as a legal foundation to enhance cooperation between the legislative bodies of the two countries. He also encouraged Malaysian businesses to expand investments in Vietnam and called for increased cooperation in culture, tourism, education and training, local connectivity, and people-to-people exchanges. He emphasized the importance of continued close coordination with each other and ASEAN countries to build a united and cohesive ASEAN, enhancing intra-bloc cooperation and playing a central role in addressing strategic issues in the region.

For his part, Ambassador Tan Yang Thai thanked Chairman Tran Thanh Man for taking the time to meet and expressed his joy and honour in having made numerous contributions during his term to establishing and implementing the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and Malaysia. He noted that high-level and various level delegation exchanges occurred regularly, and economic, trade, and investment cooperation developed substantively and effectively, not only in traditional fields but also expanding into areas where the two countries have potential and strengths, such as oil and gas, agriculture, education and training, digital transformation, renewable energy, and science and technology. Ambassador Tan Yang Thai expressed confidence that the two countries will contribute to promoting ASEAN's central role, development, and solidarity, resolving disputes peacefully and in accordance with international law, including the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea 1982.

On this occasion, Ambassador Tan Yang Thai extended his congratulations to Chairman Tran Thanh Man on the occasion of the 81st anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day on September 2. He sincerely thanked the National Assembly leadership and relevant agencies of the Vietnamese National Assembly for their active attention and support, enabling him to successfully complete his term. He expressed confidence that with the support of the National Assemblies of both countries, Vietnam-Malaysia cooperation will continue to grow strongly in the future.

Ambassador Tan Yang Thai affirmed that, in any position, he will continue to nurture the relationship between the two countries in general and between their National Assemblies in particular, contributing practically to maintaining a peaceful, stable, cooperative, and developing environment in the region and the world.
