Ms. Trang Le: Honored to receive the Knighthood of the Order of Merit of the Star of Italy

The name Trang Le or Le Thi Quynh Trang - President of the Vietnam International Fashion Week, is no stranger to the Vietnamese public, especially fashion lovers.

Being a "pagan" of the fashion world in the past, now Ms. Trang Le gradually became a pioneer in the Vietnamese fashion industry, continuously bringing high quality and meaningful fashion and entertainment programs such as Vietnam's Next Top Model, Project Runway Vietnam - Vietnam Fashion Designer, Model Kid Vietnam, especially Vietnam International Fashion Week. It is undeniable that this powerful woman is a pioneer in paving the way for Vietnamese fashion to reach regional and international markets while bringing the quintessence of world fashion closer to the Vietnamese public, creating opportunities for generations of Vietnamese fashion designers and models to reach the higher levels. With these contributions, Ms. Trang Le was appointed by the Secretariat of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) as President of the Council of ASEAN Fashion Designers (CAFD) with the mission of developing the fashion industry in Southeast Asia including Vietnam.

Bridging Vietnamese and Italian cultures

Particularly for Italy, Ms. Trang Le has a lot of love for the culture, people, cuisine, fashion and elegant lifestyle of this beautiful country. From the very first days of entering the fashion field, Italy has always become an endless inspiration for Ms. Trang Le to learn and bring the most distinctive features of Italian style to Vietnamese audiences. She is also the person who laid the first foundation for the appearance of a Vietnamese model on the prestigious catwalk of Milan Fashion Week or on the famous fashion magazine Vogue Italy.

With the introduction of Vietnam International Fashion Week in 2014, Trang Le continues to become a bridge to help strengthen the bilateral relationship through fashion. With the support and cooperation from the Italian Consulate in Ho Chi Minh City, Ms. Trang Le has continuously connected and successfully organized many fashion shows from talented Italian designers such as designer Antonio Grimaldi, famous fashion house Maison Gattinoni, veteran designer Renato Balestra or talented designer Elisabetta Franchi. Not only that, the programs under the direct guide by Ms. Trang Le such as Vietnam's Next Top Model, The Face Vietnam, Vietnam International Fashion Week… contributed to the effective transmission and promotion of Italian style culture and products. Her positive, regular and continuous contributions in promoting the image of Italy to Vietnam were recognized and appreciated by Mr. Dante Brandi - Consul General of Italy in Ho Chi Minh City. He was also the one who proposed to the President of the Republic of Italy to award the Knighthood of the Order of Merit of the Star of Italy in the field of fashion and entertainment to Ms. Trang Le.

Great honor

Ms. Trang Le's great efforts and contribution in promoting the bilateral relationship in the fashion field have been recognized. On April 6, at the Italian Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City, on behalf of the President of the Republic of Italy, Consul General of Italy in Ho Chi Minh City, Mr. Dante Brandi awarded the Knighthood of the Order of Merit of the Star of Italy to Ms. Trang Le.

The Knighthood of the Order of Merit of the Star of Italy is one of the two noble medals of the Government of Italy awarded to outstanding individuals who are Italians abroad and foreigners who have made a lot of contributions, especially important for the development of friendship and cooperation between Italy and other countries, while also contributing to promoting close relations with Italy. Ms. Trang Le also became the first Vietnamese in fashion to be honored and awarded this noble award.

Mr. Dante Brandi said, “The quintessence of Italian culture was felt and conveyed to the Vietnamese public by Ms. Trang Le through many effective activities. We appreciate Ms. Trang Le's efforts in developing the Vietnamese fashion industry in general and in maintaining and further tightening the relationship between our two countries through the fashion sector in particular. During the many years of wonderful cooperation between the Consulate General of Italy and Trang Le and Multimedia Company, we have been very impressed with her professional and dedicated working style. The award is recognized by the Italian Government for her contributions to the preservation and development of the bilateral relationship".

So proud, Ms. Trang Le confided: “It is a great honor to be recognized and awarded the Medal of Merit by the Italian Government for the contribution in the development of fashion between the two countries, just for me personally but also for Vietnamese fashion. On this occasion, I would like to express my deep thanks to the President of the Republic of Italy, Mr. Sergio Mattarella, Ambassador of Italy to Vietnam, Mr. Antonio Alessandro, especially the Consulate General of Italy in Ho Chi Minh City - Mr. Dante Brandi, for always being a great bridge to open up many opportunities for cooperation between the two countries in the fashion field. This noble Medal is a recognition of my efforts, but at the same time, it is also an important responsibility for me to continue to fulfill my mission of bringing Vietnamese fashion to a new level. I believe that, from here on, the relationship between our countries will be strengthened in many fields, especially in the fashion one”.

Ms. Trang Le has been and continues to be the pride of the Vietnamese fashion industry, a shining example for the next generations. With passion and non-stop efforts, surely, the Chairwoman of Vietnam International Fashion Week will continue to write beautiful and proud pages for the country's fashion. Hopefully, this medal will mark a new turning point in the relationship between the two countries and especially in the fashion field, opening up many opportunities to strengthen bilateral cooperation and exchange. Further, in the coming time, open the door to bring Vietnamese fashion to the international level, give wings for generations of Vietnamese designers and models to stride on world-class runways.
