Ministry of Public Security hosts meeting with appointed Heads of Vietnamese Diplomatic Missions abroad

WVR - On the evening of January 11, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Public Security, General Luong Tam Quang, Politburo Member and Minister of Public Security, presided over a meeting with the appointed Heads of Vietnamese Diplomatic Missions abroad.

Attending the meeting were Member of the Party Central Committee's Secretariat and Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung, along with Deputy Ministers of Public Security and Foreign Affairs, representatives from affiliated units of both Ministries, and the appointed heads of Vietnamese diplomatic missions abroad for 2025.

In his remarks at the meeting, Minister Le Hoai Trung emphasized the historical importance of cooperation between the Defense, Public Security, and Foreign Affairs sectors in Vietnam's revolutionary history. This collaboration has been pivotal in achieving success in national defense, security, and foreign affairs. These achievements vividly demonstrate that close cooperation among these forces is essential for safeguarding independence and sovereignty while enhancing Vietnam's international standing.

Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung affirmed that in the coming period, the tasks assigned by the Party and State are significant, requiring increasingly close and effective coordination among agencies and units. Today's meeting is not only an opportunity to exchange information and experiences but also a chance to strengthen understanding and unity in cooperation between the Ministry of Public Security and Vietnamese diplomatic missions abroad, thereby contributing practically to the overall success of the Party's foreign affairs, State diplomacy, and people's diplomacy in the new situation.

The Foreign Minister emphasized that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Public Security will continue to collaborate and exchange in-depth information, particularly in areas related to security, politics, economy, and international and regional issues. Information from the Ministry of Public Security's units is always considered crucial and timely, aiding the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in proactive advisory and reporting work, while providing comprehensive and accurate feedback to serve the nation's common tasks.

Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung particularly highlighted the importance of digital transformation in state management and foreign affairs. In 2026, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will continue to work closely with the Ministry of Public Security to implement digital transformation initiatives, build and connect databases to enhance management efficiency, support foreign affairs, ensure security and order, and meet management requirements amidst complex international and regional developments.

The Foreign Minister also emphasized the organization of regular information exchange sessions, creating a direct, transparent, and effective communication channel between the two Ministries. This will contribute to enhancing forecasting capabilities and timely situation handling, meeting the strategic requirements of the Party and State. Additionally, the Minister expressed the desire for the two Ministries to continue collaborating to produce practical cooperative products that serve management, security, order, and foreign affairs development in the future.

In his concluding remarks, General Luong Tam Quang, Minister of Public Security, emphasized the critical role of foreign affairs in the rapidly changing and complex global and regional context, especially as preparations for the 14th National Party Congress are underway. The General stated that the demands on foreign affairs are increasing, requiring close, synchronized, and effective coordination among ministries and sectors, particularly the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Public Security.

In recent times, thanks to the attention of the Party and State and the responsible coordination among ministries and sectors, Vietnam has achieved many positive results, enhancing its position and reputation on the international stage. General Luong Tam Quang highly appreciated the core role of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, especially the heads of overseas missions, and emphasized that the current trend of international cooperation requires comprehensive information sharing and coordination, particularly in ensuring security, order, and law enforcement.

The period from 2026 to 2030 holds significant historical importance, aiming for the 100th anniversary of the Party's founding, helping Vietnam escape the middle-income trap, and advancing towards becoming a high-income country by 2045. To achieve this goal, General Luong Tam Quang emphasized the effective coordination between the Ministry of Public Security, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Vietnamese diplomatic missions abroad in implementing foreign policy, maintaining a peaceful environment, and expanding development space.

General Luong Tam Quang called for continued efforts to serve as a bridge, promoting international cooperation in security, law, and security industry, while enhancing the protection of citizens and diplomatic missions, boosting external information, countering false views, and fostering international consensus and support among overseas Vietnamese communities.
