According to Tran Phu Loc Thanh, Director of the municipal Department of Agriculture and Environment, work has started on all 531 houses designated for renovation or reconstruction, benefiting poor households, near-poor families, and people with meritorious service to the nation, with 141 homes already completed and handed over to beneficiaries.

To fund the initiative, the city mobilised multiple financial sources, ensuring adequate support for eligible households. The contributions include over 16.2 billion VND (over 633,000 USD) from the 5% state budget savings on regular expenditures; more than 1.7 billion VND from the government; and over 9.36 billion VND from donations via the “For the Poor” Fund, the Gratitude Fund, and other sources.

The Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Can Tho, along with local authorities, actively encouraged businesses, organisations, and individuals to contribute, accelerating the completion of the programme. Families receiving support also contributed over 770 million VND, while local volunteers provided over 200 workdays to enhance housing quality.
