The ceremony was attended by Alternate Member of the Party Central Committee, Permanent Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Vu; Ambassador Ngo Quang Xuan, chief editor of the book; the ambassadors who authored the stories in the book; leaders of the Diplomatic Academy; and representatives from the Cong thuong Publishing House.
In the context of deepening international integration, ambassadors and heads of Vietnam's representative offices abroad play a crucial role as essential bridges in promoting bilateral and multilateral relations with international partners. They are not only diplomatic representatives but also pioneers in normalizing and developing relations with countries, especially those with institutional and interest differences.
Through political, economic, cultural diplomacy, and people-to-people exchanges, ambassadors contribute to building trust, expanding cooperation, promoting the country's image, and connecting international resources for socio-economic development.

Recognizing the strategic role of foreign affairs, the Party and State have continuously refined foreign policy and diplomacy to suit specific historical contexts. Resolution 59 identifies international integration as a central and ongoing task, with ambassadors as the core force directly implementing foreign policy, contributing to affirming Vietnam's position as a reliable partner and responsible member of the international community.
Therefore, the book Diplomatic Journeys in the Era of Integration – Continuing the Memories of Ambassadors, edited by Ambassador Ngo Quang Xuan, aims to further clarify Vietnam's foreign policy and diplomatic activities linked to each historical period of the nation.
This is the second book, following the first published in December 2024, compiling stories, experiences, and practical lessons from ambassadors and heads of Vietnam's representative missions abroad.

The ambassadors hope that through the real-life stories in the book, with the personal perspective of those directly involved and witnessing important foreign affairs events of the country, readers will gain a clearer, more authentic, and vivid understanding of Vietnam's diplomacy in the process of international integration.
The practical stories in the book not only reflect the courage, intelligence, and acumen of Vietnamese diplomats but also demonstrate their dedication to the nation, perseverance, and flexibility in handling complex international situations; contributing to realizing the aspiration of building a strong, prosperous Vietnam with an increasingly significant voice and role in regional and global issues.
Besides historical and practical values, the book aims to spread social awareness about the role of foreign affairs and the silent yet significant contributions of the diplomatic staff.
It is also a useful reference for the younger generation, especially those pursuing a diplomatic career, helping them understand the mission, responsibilities, and qualities required of diplomats, particularly Vietnamese Ambassadors in the new era.
| I highly appreciate the work Diplomatic Journeys in the Era of Integration initiated by Ambassador Ngo Quang Xuan with the collaboration of many ambassadors from the late 20th and early 21st centuries - those who have served as "bridges" between Vietnam and the world during this special period. Launched in December 2023, the book has been warmly received by readers, contributing to spreading the image and prestige of a peaceful, proactive, dynamic, and creative diplomacy in the early integration period of the country. Therefore, I believe that the writings in the book published in 2025 are stories rarely disclosed about the foreign activities of ambassadors, helping readers better understand the courage, expertise, and ability to flexibly apply the principle of "unchanging to adapt to changes" of Vietnamese Ambassadors in recent times. This book will be a valuable reference drawn from the practical experiences of ambassadors, enriching knowledge and directly serving the study, research, and work of young diplomats and numerous students studying diplomacy and international relations at home and abroad. Former Politburo Member, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Manh Cam wrote in the book's introduction. |
