Latin American communist parties hail Vietnam’s April 30 victory as a global symbol of liberation

WVR - Communist parties across Latin America have marked the 50th anniversary of Vietnam’s April 30, 1975 victory as a historic milestone in the global struggle against imperialism.

The Communist Party of Argentina commemorated the occasion by posting an image of Vietnam’s red flag with a yellow star alongside two smiling elderly individuals, with the caption: “50 years since Vietnam’s great victory.” In their message, the party emphasized that five decades after Vietnam’s defeat of U.S. imperialism, the Vietnamese people’s struggle remains a shining example for nations striving for independence and justice.

The Communist Party of Uruguay also paid tribute through a series of social media posts that featured the slogan “50 years of Vietnam's victory” and the iconic quote from President Ho Chi Minh: “Nothing is more precious than independence and freedom.” The party underlined that the triumph was the result of deep national solidarity and heroic resistance, representing a landmark defeat for U.S. imperialism.

The Uruguayan communists further noted that in the 50 years since reunification, Vietnam has made remarkable strides in development and emerged as a regional leader. They praised Vietnam’s enduring international solidarity, particularly with Latin America and Uruguay, and affirmed that the courage of the Vietnamese people continues to inspire progressive movements around the world.

Resumen Latinoamericano, a prominent leftist Spanish-language publication distributed throughout Latin America and Europe, also joined in commemorating the anniversary. The outlet shared an image of the Vietnamese flag beside a female guerrilla fighter, with the caption: “Vietnam – where imperialism was defeated 50 years ago. People’s war and the leadership of President Ho Chi Minh made the victory possible.”
