Impact Challenge at SEA competition launched to discover promising impact start-ups in Vietnam

The 2023 Impact Challenge at SEA competition was recently launched to discover and invest in promising impact start-ups in Vietnam, that propose climate solutions or promote the transition towards a digital economy.

The competition, sponsored by Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), is co-hosted by Impact Square, Nextrans Inc., and Merry Year International Korea.

This year’s event features two themes, including ‘Green’ for businesses that propose climate solutions on waste reduction, renewable energy, resources recycling/circulation, environmental pollution measurement and response, and fine dust/air purification; and ‘Digital’ for businesses that utilise digital technology in mobile apps, online transaction/education/platform, 5G, VR/AR, digital healthcare, fintech, and smart farm.

The contest is open to start-ups currently registered as a Vietnam-based entity, the CEO must be Vietnamese and their key business operations must include Vietnam.

They can apply to the competition via www.impactchallengeatsea.com. The deadline is June 30, 2023.

The start-ups will be evaluated based on the social value or social impact of their proposed solutions, the innovation of their business model, the feasibility and potential for business expansion, and the attractiveness to investors.

The winners will receive prizes worth 89,000 USD in total and will have opportunities to collaborate with the Republic of Korea’s impact start-ups and large corporations.
