A mural celebrating the enduring friendship between Vietnam and Cuba was inaugurated at the Cuban Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City on September 6.

The project was jointly organised by the Cuban Consulate General, the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Friendship Organisations, and the Ho Chi Minh City University of Fine Arts to mark the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations (1960-2025), the 80th anniversary of Vietnam's August Revolution and National Day.

Created by lecturers and students of the Fine Arts University, the mural spans nearly 50 square metres. Its vivid colours and symbolic imagery, including the national flags of both countries, bamboo, lotus flowers, sugarcane, the One Pillar Pagoda, Ha Long Bay, Havana's Revolution Square, and Cuba's Viñales Valley, reflect cultural harmony and the lasting solidarity between the two countries' people.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Nguyen Loc Ha said the mural is not only an artistic expression but also a visual testament to the special relationship nurtured by President Ho Chi Minh and leader Fidel Castro, and a message of generational continuity in Vietnam-Cuba ties.

Cuban Consul General Ariadne Feo Labrada emphasised that the work underscores political and cultural bonds, while inspiring younger generations in both nations to cherish and further strengthen their historic friendship.
