General Secretary To Lam and spouse arrive in London, beginning official visit to the UK
WVR - At exactly 7:05 AM on October 28 (local time), General Secretary To Lam and his spouse, along with a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation, arrived at London Stansted Airport, starting their official visit to the UK at the invitation of Prime Minister Keir Starmer.

Welcoming the delegation at the airport from the UK side were British Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State Seema Malhotra, British Ambassador to Vietnam Iain Frew, and Stephen Walton from the UK Foreign Office's Protocol Department. Representing Vietnam were Ambassador Do Minh Hung and his spouse, along with staff from the Vietnamese Embassy in the UK.
This marks the first visit of the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam to the UK in 12 years, coinciding with the 15th anniversary of the establishment of the Strategic Partnership between the two countries (2010-2025). The official visit by General Secretary To Lam, his spouse, and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation occurs amidst flourishing multi-faceted cooperation between the two nations within the Strategic Partnership framework over recent years.

According to Vietnamese Ambassador to the UK Do Minh Hung, during the visit, General Secretary To Lam is expected to hold talks with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer and meet with Parliamentary leaders to discuss and agree on measures to enhance the Strategic Partnership between the two countries. He will also attend and deliver a keynote speech at a high-level economic conference with major UK enterprises to boost cooperation in finance-banking, energy, science-technology, and green development.
The General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam will deliver a significant policy speech on the vision for the Vietnam-UK relationship framework and Vietnam's renovation and development orientation in the nation's era of advancement. General Secretary To Lam will also meet with representatives of the Vietnamese community living, studying, and working in the UK.

Numerous cooperation agreements between universities and businesses from both countries will also be signed, opening up significant opportunities in education, research, finance-banking, and healthcare—areas of strength for the UK and aligned with Vietnam's development orientation.
