Foreign Ministry hosts the first conference of honorary consuls of Viet Nam

The Foreign Ministry held the first conference of honorary consuls of Viet Nam abroad in both virtual and in-person forms on October 14 with about 150 connection points.

Under the chair of Deputy Foreign Minister To Anh Dung, the event was held to assess the work of honorary consuls over the recent past and define the directions for expanding the network of honorary consuls of Viet Nam abroad as well as enhancing the network’s operation effectiveness in the time ahead.

Deputy Minister Dung affirmed that Viet Nam attaches great importance to the role of the honorary consuls, and will always support and facilitate their work so that they can fulfill their mission.

Speakers from the Foreign Ministry introduced the participants to Viet Nam’s foreign policy and the outcomes of the country’s external affairs. They also mentioned opportunities in cooperation and connectivity with Vietnamese localities and Viet Nam’s foreign investment attraction policies.

The participating honorary consuls shared their views on the fields in which Viet Nam can boost cooperation with other countries, and factors that can affect the making of decisions on investing in Viet Nam.

They also suggested ideas to expand the network of honorary consuls of Viet Nam abroad and discussed ways and mechanisms for more effective coordination between them and Viet Nam.
