Enhancing press cooperation between Vietnam and China’s Guangxi

WVR - Editor-in-Chief Nguyen Truong Son proposed exploring opportunities for cooperation between the World and Vietnam Report and media agencies of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

On March 5, during the working visit to Guangxi, China, the Vietnamese delegation including Nguyen Truong Son, Editor-in-Chief of the World and Vietnam Report along with Do Nam Trung, Consul General of Vietnam in Nanning, and Hoang Trung Thanh, General Director of Viettel Post, have separate meetings with the Department of Press and Communication of the Communist Party Committee of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and the Guangxi Daily.

In the working sessions, Editor-in-Chief Nguyen Truong Son provided an overview of the World and Vietnam Report, as a media agency of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, one of the newspapers with high dissemination rates according to statistics from the Ministry of Information and Communications of Vietnam.

Editor-in-Chief Nguyen Truong Son expressed his belief that in the context of the Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership between Vietnam and China being elevated with new motivations and momentum, especially after the official visits to China by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong in November 2022 and the state visit by General Secretary, President of China Xi Jinping in December 2023, the press of both countries plays an important role in disseminating information about the implementation of the 6 focal points agreed upon by the high-level leaders of both countries in the Vietnam-China Joint Statement issued in December 2023.

The press of both countries in general, including the World and Vietnam Report and the Guangxi Daily, have made practical and specific contributions in communication, strengthening the solid social foundation to enhance understanding and friendship, promote exchanges and understanding, and foster mutual attachment between the peoples of the two countries, thus reinforcing the social foundation of the relationship between the two Parties and two countries.

Nguyen Truong Son proposed exploring opportunities for cooperation between the World and Vietnam Report and media agencies of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, through exchanging news articles, coordinating in media production and publications, support journalist activities, and organizing events, forums, exchange trip, learning experiences and other practice.

Expressing satisfaction at the strong development of the Vietnam-China relationship, Consul General Do Nam Trung emphasized the aspiration to further promote substantive and profound cooperation between Vietnam in general, and Vietnamese localities in particular with Guangxi, including in the areas of economics, trade, investment, as well as in the field of media and communication to enhance mutual understanding, people-to-people exchanges, and effectively implement the common perception of the high-level leaders of the two countries.

Do Nam Trung affirmed that the Consulate General of Vietnam in Nanning is always ready to accompany in connecting localities, businesses, and people on both sides.

Director General of Viettel Post Hoang Trung Thanh said that Viettel Post is researching the deployment of cross-border logistic services, which will not only connect Vietnam but also ASEAN region with the 1.4 billion market of China, optimizing costs, and reducing customs clearance time between the two sides.

During the meeting with the Vietnamese delegation, Li Xin Tu, a member of the Committee for Press and Communication of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, warmly welcomed the Vietnamese delegation working visit, affirming that China highly values its relationship with Vietnam, the neighboring country with "adjacent mountains and rivers".

In the context of the two countries' relationship developing very well after the recent visits of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and General Secretary, President of China Xi Jinping, Li Xin Tu said that Guangxi emphasizes promoting relations with Vietnam, especially northern border provinces, and highly values the role of the Consulate General of Vietnam in Nanning as a bridge, promoting cooperation between the two sides.

In the field of press and communication, in recent times, Guangxi has implemented various forms of cooperation such as coordinating television production, and sharing news with media agencies of Quang Ninh province and some northern localities. Li Xin Tu expressed a desire to promote cooperation with the World and Vietnam Report, appointing a liaison to discuss specific areas of cooperation in the near future and welcomes Viettel Post's investment and business deployment in Guangxi.

Editor-in-Chief Nguyen Truong Son presents a special publication to Yang Tian, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Guangxi Daily.

According to Yang Tian, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Guangxi Daily, the newspaper was founded in 1949 and has focused on enhancing cooperation with Vietnam in particular and ASEAN in general. Until now, the newspaper has established an ASEAN Editorial Board and representative offices in 6 Southeast Asian countries.

It regularly gives priority to news coverage on ASEAN, with a particular focus on Vietnam.

Regarding Vietnam, the newspaper frequently exchanges news articles with media agencies in several Vietnamese localities. In 2023, the newspaper welcomed delegations from some of these localities and will soon send a delegation of journalists to Vietnam to actively report on the economic and social development of Vietnam, as well as the traditional friendship between Vietnam and China.

Deputy Editor-in-Chief Yang Tian said that the ASEAN Editorial Board will be tasked with promoting specific cooperation and is highly interested in the projects that Viettel Post plans to deploy in Guangxi.

On this occasion, representatives of Guangxi Daily shared their special affinity with Vietnam as their veteran photographer Zhao Huang Qiang had captured many photographs of President Ho Chi Minh.
