Dien Bien Airport serves over 12,000 passengers on 70th Anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory

From May 1-9, Dien Bien airport in the northwestern province of Dien Bien served more than 12,000 passengers, on the occasion of the May Day holiday and the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory (May 7).

According to the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV), in that period, the airport handled 98 civil and 26 military flights.

According to information from the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV), along with improving service quality and putting large aircraft routes into operation, after four months of resuming operations, the Airport Dien Bien airport has welcomed more than 900 departure/arrival flights.

After being upgraded and expanded, Dien Bien Airport can now operate modern large aircraft Airbus A320 and A321. With a flight frequency of 7 flights/week from Hanoi to Dien Bien, and 3 flights/week from Ho Chi Minh City to Dien Bien on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, travel time has been shortened, gradually meeting the demand of people in the area.

ACV statistics found that the number of tourists going to and from Dien Bien has increased and stabilized. The volume product that Dien Bien Airport has made since its operation on March 31, 2024, is 906 trips with a total of 69,900 passengers (of which 34,911 departing passengers and 34,989 arriving passengers).

In particular, many passengers from Lai Chau and Son La provinces also moved to Dien Bien Phu to fly to Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City, creating a much more stuffy atmosphere than before; Ensuring security, aviation safety and quality services are given top priority.

Currently, the summer flight schedule announced by airlines operating flights to/from Dien Bien, Vietnam Airlines, and VietJet Air, has increased the number of flights to 42 flights/week.

Dien Bien Airport began investing in new, modern equipment after upgrading and expanding, such as biometric systems, using Co Chan electronic citizens for airline passengers; ground service equipment, and terminal equipment... The fourth major upgraded airport is a key tool of great significance in national defense and security, creating a breakthrough in infrastructure, contributing to revenue Attracting investment, and promoting economic development in regions. Thanks to effective safety security protection measures, utmost safety was ensured for all the flights.

The Airport applied strengthened security measures from April 27 until May 12, while ensuring good passenger services.

So far this year, Dien Bien has welcomed more than 1 million tourists, including 4,800 foreigners. Total revenue from tourism activities has reached nearly 1.9 trillion VND (74.65 million USD).

Particularly, from April 30 to May 7, the province received over 370,000 visitors, earning over 390 billion VND.
