The Deputy PM made the remark during his reception in Ha Noi on December 20 for Ranjit Lamech, Regional Director of the WB’s Infrastructure Department in the East Asia and Pacific region, and Ousmane Dion, Country Director for the WB in Vietnam.
The host thanked the WB and the two guests for their active and significant support for Vietnam through policy advice, ODA provision and technical assistance in terms of infrastructure, especially in the field of energy, over the past few years.
For their part, the WB officials shared Deputy PM Dung’s view on the importance of investing in energy infrastructure, while expressing their impression at Vietnam’s recent successes in the area of energy, particularly the development of renewable energy.

They suggested that the Vietnamese Government continue studying and promulgating support policies to facilitate the investment capital in energy infrastructure development, as well as reviewing obstacles in some major power projects to soon put these works into operation.
Vietnam also needs to resolve the issue of transmission line overload in the shortest period of time, they recommended.
Deputy PM Dung said the Government of Vietnam has set the request of providing sufficient electricity for business and production activities, and is currently implementing measures to ensure that. Accordingly, Vietnam will adjust the planning, clearly define the structure of power sources and ensure the safe operation of the electricity system.
In addition, the Government will continue identifying key projects to make focused investments, while completing the law system, removing obstacles in energy infrastructure investment, and developing special mechanisms to support the development of power sources, electricity networks, and especially types of clean energy and renewable energy, he stated.
