Deputy Minister Dang Hoang Giang welcomed Ms. Dobson back to Vietnam on this occasion, appreciating her contributions as New Zealand's Ambassador to Vietnam from 2021 to 2024 and in her current role in promoting and elevating Vietnam - New Zealand and ASEAN - New Zealand relations.
During their discussions, the Deputy Minister shared insights into Vietnam's policies, particularly the realization of the 100-year strategic goal and the determination to achieve double-digit growth starting in 2026. Vietnam aims to innovate its growth model, leveraging science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation as key drivers, alongside renewing traditional growth engines. To achieve this, foreign affairs, including multilateral diplomacy, serve as crucial pillars, strengthening a peaceful and stable environment, mobilizing support resources, sharing experiences, and connecting initiatives for national development.
The Deputy Minister affirmed that Vietnam values cooperation with New Zealand both bilaterally and multilaterally through mechanisms such as ASEAN and the United Nations. He praised New Zealand's "ASEAN first" approach and strong support for ASEAN's central role. Vietnam, as the coordinator for ASEAN-New Zealand relations from 2024 to 2027, will continue to work closely with New Zealand to effectively implement the Joint Vision Statement and the 2026-2030 Action Plan to concretize the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two sides.

Discussing international and regional situations, Deputy Minister Dang Hoang Giang shared Ms. Dobson's assessment of new challenges facing the multilateral system and global institutions. In this context, Vietnam and New Zealand reaffirmed the values of multilateralism and international law, supporting improvements and enhancing the effectiveness of multilateral institutions, as well as strengthening connectivity and expanding cooperation, especially on global issues like climate change, environment, and rising sea levels.
Expressing her pleasure to return to Vietnam on this occasion, Ms. Dobson praised Vietnam's socio-economic and diplomatic achievements in recent times. She affirmed that New Zealand considers Vietnam an important partner, sharing many common interests and perspectives in promoting multilateralism and a rules-based international order. She stated that New Zealand highly values strengthening coordination with Vietnam to enhance the effectiveness of multilateral institutions, suggesting that the two foreign ministries maintain regular exchanges and consultations to effectively advance the Vietnam - New Zealand Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and the ASEAN - New Zealand Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, contributing positively to the joint efforts in building a peaceful, stable, cooperative, and prosperous region.
