During the talks, Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Manh Cuong emphasized that 2026 holds special significance as it marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and the Philippines (1976-2026) and the year when the Philippines will assume the ASEAN Chairmanship. These are important milestones and opportunities for the two countries to further strengthen their relationship. He affirmed that Vietnam always values and desires to elevate the Strategic Partnership with the Philippines to new heights, making it deeper and more comprehensive.

Undersecretary Leo Herrera-Lim congratulated the successful conclusion of the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam and expressed confidence that with the vision and determination of the Party and State, Vietnam will successfully achieve its socio-economic development goals, contributing positively to peace, cooperation, and development in Southeast Asia.

Both sides assessed that the cooperation between Vietnam and the Philippines has become increasingly comprehensive, profound, substantive, and effective, especially in political-diplomatic cooperation, maritime cooperation, defense-security, and people-to-people exchanges. They agreed to continue strengthening political trust, enhancing high-level and other exchanges, and vigorously promoting bilateral cooperation mechanisms to create new breakthroughs in cooperation in several priority areas, commemorating the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and the Philippines.

On this occasion, the two sides also exchanged views on a number of regional and international issues of mutual concern, agreeing to continue coordinating and supporting each other at regional and international forums, strengthening ASEAN's unity and central role in the regional architecture, and jointly striving to maintain a peaceful and stable environment for development in Southeast Asia and the Asia-Pacific.
