The visit takes place amidst complex regional and global developments, with increasing strategic competition among major powers, and ongoing impacts of trade protectionism and climate change on global socio-economic development. In this context, Vietnam's active participation and contributions to the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) – the region's leading economic cooperation mechanism – continue to affirm the country's role, position, prestige, and deepening international integration.
Under the theme "Building a Sustainable Future: Connectivity - Innovation - Prosperity", the 32nd APEC Economic Leaders' Week is expected to endorse significant initiatives to strengthen the multilateral trading system, promote green and digital transformation, foster innovation, and enhance the region's economic resilience against global shocks.
Vietnam's participation and contributions, led by President Luong Cuong, clearly demonstrate the country's foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, peace, cooperation, and development; its policy of multilateralization and diversification of external relations; and affirm Vietnam's proactive, active, and responsible spirit towards regional and global issues.
On the sidelines of APEC activities, President Luong Cuong is expected to hold numerous bilateral meetings with leaders of member economies to promote cooperation in areas of mutual interest, expand partnerships, leverage resources for national development, and make practical contributions to peace, stability, and shared prosperity in the region.
Vietnam and Republc of Korea are currently each other's leading economic partners, with bilateral trade reaching nearly 90 billion USD in 2024, aiming for 100 billion USD by 2030. The business communities of both countries are increasingly playing a crucial bridging role, contributing to regional and global supply chains, especially in electronics, high technology, renewable energy, and the digital economy.
President Luong Cuong's visit to Republic of Korea and participation in the 32nd APEC Economic Leaders' Week is expected to create new momentum for the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Vietnam and Republic of Korea, deepen cooperation within APEC, and positively contribute to the international community's efforts in building a peaceful, stable, cooperative, and sustainably developing Asia-Pacific region.
