Deputy FM Le Anh Tuan receives a delegation from Russian Foreign Ministry's Legal Department

Deputy Minister Le Anh Tuan welcomed and appreciated the mechanism for exchanging information on international law between the two legal departments and the two Foreign Ministries.

The Deputy Foreign Minister said that this is a mechanism for the two sides to share their positions and viewpoints on emerging international legal issues; thereby seeking the possibility of coordinating positions at multilateral legal mechanisms such as the International Law Commission (ILC), Committee 6, the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL) and conferences to negotiate legal documents.

Affirming that Vietnam attached much importance to the traditional friendship and comprehensive strategic partnership with Russia, Deputy Foreign Minister Le Anh Tuan wishes to continue to maintain and strengthen cooperation with Russia in various fields for the common interests of the two countries.

The Deputy Foreign Minister appreciated the Vietnam-Russia relationship in recent times, and congratulated the Russian Federation on its achievements in socio-economic development under the leadership of President Putin and the direction and administration of the Russian Government, including the particularly important contributions of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Deputy Foreign Minister affirmed that Vietnam is ready to act as a bridge to promote cooperation between Russia, the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and ASEAN.

On this occasion, the Deputy Foreign Minister expressed his sincere thanks to the Russian side for its strong and timely support for Vietnam's initiative to host the signing ceremony of the Convention against Cybercrime and requested Russia to continue supporting Vietnam in organizing a successful signing ceremony.

Mr. Musikhin Maxim, Director General of the Department of Legal Affairs under the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, expressed his pleasure at visiting Vietnam and discussing international legal issues of mutual concern. He emphasized that the Russian Federation supports Vietnam's initiative and affirmed its readiness to actively assist Vietnam in organizing the signing ceremony of the Convention against Cybercrime.

The two sides agreed that it is necessary to continue to maintain a channel of international law exchange between the two legal departments of the two Foreign Ministries in order to share, exchange views and coordinate with each other at multilateral legal forums.

The international legal dialogue mechanism is an exchange mechanism between the Department of Law and International Treaties, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam and the specialized legal departments of the Foreign Ministries of other countries to discuss legal issues of mutual concern. Up to now, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam has had regular consultation channels with Australia, Russia, Japan, Laos and has organized consultations with a number of other partners such as Germany and Switzerland.
