Delegation of the Communist Party of Vietnam attends Inter-Continental Dialogue among Political Parties (ICDPP)
WVR - From September 6-9, the delegation of the Communist Party of Vietnam, led by Mr Tran Thanh Lam, Member of the Party Central Committee and Deputy Head of the Party Central Committee's Commission for Information and Education, attended the first Inter-Continental Dialogue among Political Parties (ICDPP) in Seoul, Republic of Korea.

The delegation included Ms Nguyen Thi Hoang Van, Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs.
The conference was attended by leaders and representatives from 21 political parties, organizations, and party networks from Asia, Africa, Europe, and Latin America. The conference focused on discussing the role and cooperation of political parties in the face of profound global changes.
Delegates emphasised the importance of cooperation among political parties to promote dialogue, enhance understanding, and address common challenges. They also affirmed the hope for ICDPP to be a voluntary forum that fosters exchange, cooperation, and trust-building among political parties worldwide.
Speaking at the plenary session, Mr Tran Thanh Lam noted that the world is undergoing profound transformations that directly impact peace, stability, and development prospects of each nation.
He underscored that political parties need to establish appropriate development visions, placing the interests and aspirations of the people at the centre. Mr Tran Thanh Lam suggested leveraging the role of party cooperation in connecting political forces, laying the foundation for cooperation among nations, while managing differences and preventing confrontation and conflict.
Sharing Vietnam's experiences, Mr Tran Thanh Lam highlighted the historically significant achievements of 40 years of Doi Moi (Renewal) and the enduring lessons of steadfastness in the goals of national independence and socialism, coupled with continuous innovation, harnessing the strength of the people and the great national unity bloc, maintaining independence and self-reliance while proactively integrating internationally.
He affirmed that the Party's foreign affairs continue to play a role in building political foundations, strengthening trust, and enhancing relations with political parties, contributing to promoting Vietnam's relations with other countries. He emphasized that the Communist Party of Vietnam supports promoting cooperation with political parties and party networks.
In this spirit, Vietnam is ready to host the 14th ICAPP General Assembly in 2028.
On the occasion of attending the conference, Mr Tran Thanh Lam had a discussion with Ms. Sofía Carvajal Isunza, Executive Secretary of the Standing Conference of Latin American and Caribbean Political Parties (COPPPAL), and Secretary in charge of foreign affairs of the Institutional Revolutionary Party of Mexico (PRI).
Mr Tran Thanh Lam affirmed that Vietnam values its friendly and cooperative relations with Mexico, appreciates the role of PRI and COPPPAL, and proposed enhancing contacts and cooperation to deepen relations between Vietnam and Mexico and other Latin American countries.
During the same occasion, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Thi Hoang Van met with Chairman of the ICAPP Standing Committee Chung Eui Yong, and Head of the Democratic Party of Korea's Parliamentary Group Han Byung Do.
In these meetings, the Deputy Minister praised the positive development of Vietnam-Republic of Korea relations and congratulated the Republic of Korea and ICAPP for successfully organizing the first ICDPP conference. Both sides also exchanged and shared experiences in organizing the ICAPP General Assembly, preparing for Vietnam to host the 14th ICAPP General Assembly in 2028.
Deputy Minister Nguyen Thi Hoang Van also met with Mr. Zafer Sirakaya, Vice Chairman and Head of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Justice and Development Party of Turkey (AK Party). Both sides affirmed their support for promoting bilateral relations between Vietnam and Turkey, as well as between the Communist Party of Vietnam and the AK Party, including the early signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between the two parties and enhancing bilateral exchanges and contacts.
Participation in the ICDPP conference demonstrates the proactive, positive, and responsible engagement of the Communist Party of Vietnam in multilateral party mechanisms, contributing to expanding relations with political parties, organizations, and party networks in Asia and worldwide.
The Inter-Continental Dialogue among Political Parties (ICDPP) is a newly initiated inter-regional dialogue mechanism launched for the first time in Seoul, Republic of Korea, in September 2026, aiming to enhance connectivity, understanding, trust, and cooperation among political parties, organizations, and party networks across continents.
The conference was attended for the first time by representatives of the International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP), the African Political Parties Initiative (APPI), the Standing Conference of Latin American and Caribbean Political Parties (COPPPAL), the Union of Latin American Political Parties (UPLA), and political groups in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE).
