Deepening the friendship between the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Hungarian Workers' Party

Warmly welcoming the delegation, Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Manh Cuong emphasised that President of the Hungarian Workers' Party Thurmer Gyula's fifth visit to Vietnam demonstrates the deep bond and the importance placed on the relationship between the two Parties; it is an opportunity to discuss measures to enhance cooperation, strengthen friendship, and mutual trust.

Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Manh Cuong expressed appreciation for the solidarity and valuable support of the Hungarian people for Vietnam in its struggle for independence, unification, and in building and developing the country.

The Deputy Foreign Minister affirmed that Vietnam always values its traditional friendship with Hungary; the Communist Party of Vietnam aims to expand relations with political parties, including the Hungarian Workers' Party, a traditional partner that always shows concern, shares, and supports Vietnam.

Appreciating the development of the bilateral relationship, marked by the establishment of a Comprehensive Partnership in 2018, he emphasised the need to strengthen solidarity and cooperation among workers' parties and leftist forces amid the complex global situation; he suggested that the two Parties coordinate and support each other at multilateral forums, especially the International Meeting of Communist and Workers' Parties (IMCWP), and jointly organize activities to commemorate important milestones in the relationship between the two countries.

Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Manh Cuong proposed that the Hungarian Workers' Party continue to support the development of bilateral relations, assist in connecting businesses; advocate for the European Commission (EC) to soon lift the “yellow card” warning against Vietnam regarding illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing; and support the Vietnamese community in stabilizing their lives and integrating well into the local society.

Delighted to return to Vietnam after 10 years, President of the Hungarian Workers' Party Thurmer Gyula expressed his impression of the country's remarkable development, socio-economic achievements, improved living standards, and international standing. He congratulated the success of the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam, believing that Vietnam will successfully achieve the goals set by the Congress.

Affirming that Vietnam is an extremely important partner of the Workers' Party of Hungary, he stated that he will enhance the introduction to the public, especially the younger generation, about the relationship between the two countries and the successes in building socialism in Vietnam.

He hopes that Vietnam will continue to play a role and contribute on the international stage and in the international communist and workers' movement; he shares the desire for Hungary to also have the opportunity to participate in shaping a new world order like Vietnam.

Thurmer Gyula affirmed that the Hungarian Workers' Party of Hungary supports the Government in strengthening relations with Vietnam and stressed that this policy receives support from Hungarian political parties. Agreeing with Vietnam's proposals, he affirmed that he will actively contribute to promoting cooperation between the two Parties and the two countries.

Both sides highly valued the results of economic-trade cooperation, education-training, and people-to-people exchanges; they believe that the traditional friendship foundation is the basis for leveraging the potential and strengths of each country, deepening the Vietnam-Hungary Comprehensive Partnership.

Both sides agreed to enhance delegation exchanges, maintain contacts, share information and experiences, thereby promoting the role of the Party channel in consolidating political trust, mutual understanding, and promoting practical cooperation for the benefit of the people of both countries.
