Cultivating the special Vietnam-Cuba Friendship
WVR - On the afternoon of August 11, at the Cuban Embassy in Vietnam, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society organized a symbolic ceremony to present a support package worth 100 billion VND from the Vietnamese people to the Cuban people, on the occasion of the 100th birth anniversary of Leader Fidel Castro Ruz (August 13, 1926 - August 13, 2026).

Speaking at the ceremony, Ms. Do Thi Thu Thao, President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society, expressed her delight in collaborating with the Cuban Embassy in Vietnam to organize the symbolic ceremony of presenting the support package from the Vietnamese people to the Cuban people on the occasion of the 100th birth anniversary of Leader Fidel Castro Ruz.
This is also an opportunity for the Vietnamese people to remember and pay tribute to Leader Fidel Castro Ruz, a great friend, a close comrade of the Vietnamese people, a leader who gave Vietnam special affection and strong, consistent support during difficult historical times.

The image of Leader Fidel Castro visiting the liberated zone of Quang Tri in 1973 with the statement “For Vietnam, Cuba is willing to shed its blood” has become a symbol of the solidarity, friendship, and camaraderie between Vietnam and Cuba.
According to Ms. Do Thi Thu Thao, a generation of Vietnamese grew up with stories of the affection Cuba has for Vietnam. Subsequent generations have inherited a priceless legacy of friendship, loyalty, and camaraderie that the Cuban people have extended to the Vietnamese people. Thus, continuing the tradition is not only about remembering the past but also about transforming gratitude into concrete actions today.
In recent years, the Cuban people have faced many difficulties, directly affecting their lives and livelihoods. With the spirit of “Loving others as oneself”, the humanitarian tradition of the Vietnamese nation, and international solidarity, the Vietnamese people, through the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society, send to the Cuban people a support package worth 100 billion VND.
The support not only holds material value, helping to share the difficulties with the Cuban people, but also represents the affection, sharing, and gratitude of the Vietnamese people towards the Cuban people; it is also a continuation of the special friendship that has been nurtured with loyalty over many generations.
Through the Cuban Embassy in Vietnam, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society conveys to the Cuban people the message: “The Vietnamese people always stand with the Cuban people”.

On behalf of the Government and people of Cuba, the Ambassador expressed his emotions regarding the sentiments about the solidarity relationship between Vietnam and Cuba shared by the President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society.
The Ambassador stated that the support from the Vietnamese people to the Cuban people comes at a time when Cuba is facing extremely difficult circumstances. This is evidence of the unwavering solidarity of the Party, State, and people of Vietnam towards the revolutionary cause of the Cuban people.
The reception of this solidarity support by Cuba on the occasion of the 100th birth anniversary of Leader Fidel Castro, a loyal friend of Vietnam and President Ho Chi Minh, holds special significance for Cuba.
Ambassador Rogelio Polanco Fuentes affirmed that Leader Fidel Castro was one of the pioneers in supporting the struggle of the Vietnamese people for national liberation, unification, and nation-building. The Ambassador believes that the affection and solidarity between the Vietnamese and Cuban people, fostered by Leader Fidel Castro and President Ho Chi Minh, will continue to be preserved and promoted by future generations.
On this occasion, the Ambassador congratulated the Vietnam Red Cross Society on the successful organization of its 12th Congress, while acknowledging the dedicated and responsible humanitarian activities of the Society in supporting individuals and communities in need.
