In his opening remarks, Ambassador Vu Trung My reviewed the 65-year historical journey of Vietnam-Cuba relations, emphasizing the event on December 2, 1960, when Vietnam and Cuba officially established diplomatic relations, opening a new chapter for the friendship between the two nations located on the Eastern and Western hemispheres of the globe.
Over more than half a century, the special friendship between the two Parties and countries has been continuously nurtured, strengthened, and elevated to new heights for the benefit of the people and the prosperous development of each nation.
In the journey of the special Vietnam-Cuba relationship, the Party, State, and people of Vietnam will forever remember the immortal words of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro, “For Vietnam, Cuba is willing to shed its blood.”
The historic visit of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro to Vietnam and the newly liberated Quang Tri in September 1973 was a politically significant event that inspired and motivated the Vietnamese people's resistance, becoming a noble symbol of the enduring brotherly solidarity between the two nations and peoples of Vietnam and Cuba.
Expressing joy over the significant achievements made by the Cuban Party, State, and people in their revolutionary cause, Ambassador Vu Trung My is confident that under the glorious leadership of the Communist Party of Cuba, the Cuban people will overcome all difficulties and challenges, continuing to achieve even greater victories in building and defending the socialist Cuba.

For his part, Cuban Ambassador to Venezuela Dagoberto Rodríguez affirmed that in contemporary world history, there are few relationships as special as the one between the two Parties, States, and peoples of Vietnam and Cuba.
This fine relationship has been diligently nurtured by revolutionary leaders José Martí, Fidel Castro, Ho Chi Minh, as well as generations of Cuban and Vietnamese leaders.
National Hero José Martí was the first to sow the seeds of affection between Vietnam and Cuba and their peoples through his work “A Walk on the Land of the Annamites” published in the children's magazine “Golden Age” for Cuban children in the late 19th century.
Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro, a student and the most outstanding successor of National Hero José Martí's ideology, affirmed that the brotherly friendship between Cuba and Vietnam was born and grew in the historical similarities of the two nations' struggles against common enemies.
Ambassador Dagoberto Rodríguez expressed his emotion in participating in the exchange activity, filled with comradely brotherhood between the two Embassies, a vivid testament to the traditional solidarity and special friendship between the two Parties and countries.
Affirming, “the solidarity and brotherhood between Cuba and Vietnam exists everywhere in the world,” Ambassador Dagoberto Rodríguez emphasized that the friendship exchange between the two Embassies will positively contribute to strengthening and deepening the special relationship between the two countries, while expressing the desire for the two Embassies to maintain a close, trustworthy, and traditional cooperative relationship, jointly promoting the development of the special Cuba-Vietnam relationship.
