Conference to disseminate policies and laws for village chiefs of Vietnam-Laos border

WVR/VNA - On December 6, a conference to raise knowledge about policies and laws related to the Vietnam-Laos border took place in thel province of Nghe An, gathering nearly 200 village chiefs from 20 border provinces of the two nations.

Addressing the function, Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai and his Lao counterpart Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Saleumxay Kommasith said via practical acts, the chiefs and reputable people in border villages have made significant contributions to protecting the areas, and border markers and sustaining peace and security there.

They stressed the dissemination of information on related treaties, international agreements and legal documents are key to the effectiveness of the border work between the countries.

The two Deputy Prime Ministers said they believe participants will disseminate what they have learned when they return to their villages and continue their good work in guiding and encouraging local people to respect the nations’ laws, especially regarding border-related marriages, immigration, and cultivation issues.

Delivering a speech on the special relationship between Vietnam and Laos, Standing Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Vu highlighted the close friendship throughout the history of nation building and defense of the two nations. The Vietnam - Laos close relationship has been jointly built, nurtured and consolidated by generations of leaders and people of the two countries, becoming an important factor in ensuring the success of the revolution of each country.

On this occasion, Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai had a cordial reception with Lao Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Saleumxay Kommasith.

The two Deputy Prime Ministers expressed their delight at the solid development of the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos and agreed to coordinate in the preparation and implementation of exchange of high-level delegations and important bilateral cooperation mechanisms in the coming time, especially the 45th Meeting of the Vietnam-Laos Inter-governmental Committee and the Closing Ceremony of the Vietnam- Laos and Laos-Vietnam Solidarity and Friendship Year 2022.

In addition to presenting reports and discussing information at the conference, participants joined cultural exchange events and toured popular tourist and historical sites in Nghe An.
