British University Vietnam: Ensuring every student has a success story to share with quality international learning
Latest
Founded in 2009, British University Vietnam (BUV) is the first and only international university in Vietnam to award British degrees from prestigious universities in the UK. Expanding the network of collaboration with other international universities through several teaching programs is also crucial in BUV’s development plan. BUV’s mission is to deliver certified British higher education degrees and the highest quality international learning environment in Vietnam.
The team at BUV works closely with British Embassy and Vietnam Government to ensure Vietnam’s education needs are addressed and the students are educated at a global level. Vietnam has a high growth economy with opportunities for vast investment and development. BUV has attracted students from across Vietnam, the Asian region, and the world - creating a diverse international student body that has the opportunity, while studying in Vietnam, to experience British education and graduate with a British degree. Students also have the option to transfer to the UK if they wish and finish their degree abroad.

BUV has four schools, including the School of Business, School of Hospitality and Tourism, School of Creative Industries, and School of Computing and Innovative Technologies that provide teaching for undergraduate and postgraduate degrees from prestigious universities in the UK. The University also has extensive professional and skills-based training courses to ensure that students develop the necessary maturity, disposition, and skills to fit with and contribute to work environments upon graduation. At BUV, it is compulsory for students, from their first year, to enroll in internships so they get early exposure to the global work-life economy. The Student Experience Department at the university provides employment and internship advice, career consultation with students about their interests and passions in order to discover their strengths and how to apply these strengths in the commercial world.

As for the faculty at BUV, 100 per cent of the academic staff are international and come to the University with qualifications and experience from prestigious universities throughout the world. As per British higher education quality assurance requirements, academic and practitioner teaching staff are subject to ongoing academic development requirements and practical work experience criteria and they have a deep understanding of the British education system. Students continue interaction with the faculty after graduation through the University’s Alumni relations program which supports further development studies and career success. BUV partners with leading national and international business organizations to foster mutually beneficial partnerships that provide students and alumni with a diverse and dynamic career path. “We maintain excellent and supportive relationships with many reputable corporate and government organizations across Vietnam and throughout the SEA region as well as the UK,” adds Prof. Dr. Raymond.
“Our aim is to create graduates that represent a new generation of talented discoverers, explorers and creative thinkers educated, trained and prepared to thrive in 4IR fields of work and life". |
The university also offers scholarship funds to help the students financially. The BUV Scholarship fund and financial aid were established in 2018, with the “The British Ambassador’s scholarship”. “We started the British University Vietnam scholarship fund with the goal of giving students the opportunity to study UK undergraduate and graduate programs in an international standard educational environment in the country’s capital,” says Prof. Dr. Raymond. After more than two years of effective operation, with an aim to improve and increase access to high-quality education, BUV has officially raised the fund's value from 1.74 million USD (2019) to 2.3 million USD with hundreds of scholarships and financial aid made available.

Recently, BUV invested in a new campus with an investment of 36 million USD for the first phase in Ecopark, Hung Yen. As of this moment, the total investment for the whole campus when completed is estimated at approximately 80 million USD. The new campus, which came into operation in 2018, provides an international-standard facility that is architecturally stunning with an iconic design, indicative of 4IR, and with state-of-the-art learning technology. Going forward, BUV plans to start an additional School of Social Sciences and open a number of centers throughout Vietnam and the region to deliver foundation and post-graduate programs. BUV continually works to help the Vietnamese government to fill the local skills gap, while at the same time giving students from across the region access to an international learning environment and an opportunity for international work experience and placement.
