'Aspiration for Peace' art programme to honour sacrifice of previous generations
The art programme took place on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the Day for Wounded and Fallen Soldiers and the 50th anniversary of the battle to defend the Quang Tri Citadel.

An art programme entitled “Aspiration for Peace” was held on July 24 in the central province of Quang Tri to honour those who have fallen for national independence.
The event was attended by Politburo members Vo Van Thuong, Permanent member of the Secretariat, and Truong Thi Mai, Head of the Central Commission for Organisation.
The programme took place on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the Day for Wounded and Fallen Soldiers and the 50th anniversary of the battle to defend the Quang Tri Citadel.
In her speech at the event, Mai highlighted the sacrifices of the previous generations for today’s peace and development and called for deep gratitude to the heroes fallen during the struggle for national independence, freedom, peace and reunification.
She added that although war has long been past, there are still those who sacrificed themselves to defend the motherland’s sovereignty and peace for the people.
Mai emphasised that it is the Party and State’s top policy to take care of the people who made contributions to the revolution.

The art programme featured performances praising the value of peace and the strong vitality of humans in a land ravaged by war while calling on people from all over Vietnam and the world to join hands in preserving peace, happiness and prosperity.
At the end of the programme, delegates released flower lanterns on the Thach Han River paying tribute to heroes and fallen soldiers.
Before the programme, a candle-lit vigil was held at the Quang Tri Citadel to commemorate the fallen with the participation of heroic mothers, veterans, families of national contributors, members of the youth union, university students and residents.
Earlier on the same day, Politburo member Truong Thi Mai offered incense and flowers to the late General Secretary Le Duan at his memorial in Trieu Phong District, Quang Tri Province.
