The equipment comprises of syringe pumps manufactured in Israel as well as bedside monitors, which are essential during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Vice Minister of Vietnamese Ministry of Health, Prof. Tran Van Thuan, Ambassador of Israel in Viet Nam Nadav Eshcar and ZIM Vietnam Managing Director Abraham Elias took part in the ceremony.

At the start of the fourth COVID-19 wave in July 2021, Vietnamese Health Minister Nguyen Thanh Long called on to ensure no shortage of medical devices and protective equipment for health practitioners. Localities however have reported difficulties in supplying adequate equipment, even for non-COVID treatment, with pandemic-hotspot Ho Chi Minh City a prime example.

This contribution of syringe pumps and bedside monitors will help support measures to strengthen the health system. ZIM is grateful for its long standing and significant operations in Viet Nam and feel privileged to be able to contribute meaningfully to an important cause. The company made similar arrangement in its other world markets, such as offering containers for oxygen shipments to India at the peak of the pandemic.

ZIM’s President and CEO Eli Glickman said, “Contribution to the communities in which we operate is one of our core values and part of our vision. We feel privileged to make this donation and would like to thank the Israeli ambassador in Viet Nam and the Vietnamese authorities for their collaboration and support.”

Highlighting the importance of medical assistance and cooperation, Ambassador Nadav Eshcar believes that “This magnificent operation will make it easier for our Vietnamese friends to cope with the pandemic. I praise the decision by ZIM to show the Israeli spirit of caring, and especially in Viet Nam.”
