14th National Party Congress: Preparatory Session convenes in Hanoi

On the morning of January 19, the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam held its preparatory session at the National Convention Center, Hanoi.
Before the opening of the preparatory session, delegates attended a ceremony to pay tribute at President Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum. Subsequently, Politburo members, Secretariat members, and delegation heads from the Party Central organizations laid wreaths and offered incense at the Monument to the Heroes and Martyrs.

The entire Congress observed a minute of silence in memory of the late General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and other members of the 13th Party Central Committee who passed away during the 13th Congress term.

Politburo member and Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man presided over the preparatory session on behalf of the key leaders of the Party and State.
The Congress unanimously approved the agenda of the preparatory session, the working regulations of the Congress, the working program of the Congress, and the election regulations for the 14th National Congress of the Party.

The Congress elected a Presidium consisting of 16 Politburo members. It also elected a Secretariat of 5 members and a Board for Delegate Eligibility Verification comprising 13 members.

The Congress unanimously approved the report on delegate eligibility for the 14th National Party Congress presented by the Board for Delegate Eligibility Verification.

Accordingly, all 1,586 delegates summoned to the Congress are deemed eligible. In the afternoon, delegates will study documents at their respective accommodations.
