Welcome ceremony held for General Secretary, President To Lam and Spouse in Singapore
WVR/VNA - President of the Republic of Singapore Tharman Shanmugaratnam and his spouse hosted a grand welcoming ceremony for General Secretary, President To Lam and his spouse, along with the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation, on their state visit to the Republic of Singapore.

On the morning of May 29, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Singapore, President of the Republic of Singapore Tharman Shanmugaratnam and his spouse presided over the grand welcoming ceremony for General Secretary, President To Lam and his spouse, along with the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation, on their state visit to the Republic of Singapore. They will deliver opening remarks at the Shangri-La Dialogue from May 29-31.
The vehicle carrying General Secretary, President To Lam and his spouse arrived at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where the President of Singapore and his spouse warmly greeted them at the car door, extending a cordial welcome for their state visit to Singapore. The two leaders walked on the red carpet towards the dais. The military band played the national anthems of both Vietnam and Singapore.
Immediately following the ceremony, General Secretary, President To Lam and President Tharman Shanmugaratnam introduced the high-ranking members of the delegations from both Singapore and Vietnam attending the ceremony.
Vietnam and Singapore share a dynamic, substantive, and effective friendship and cooperation within Southeast Asia. Over more than half a century of development, the relationship between the two countries has been continuously strengthened, expanded, and deepened, becoming a successful cooperation model within the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

The most prominent highlight in Vietnam-Singapore relations is economic, trade, and investment cooperation. Singapore is currently one of Vietnam's leading economic partners and the second-largest investor in Vietnam.
Singapore's projects span various fields such as processing and manufacturing industries, infrastructure, logistics, real estate, finance, high technology, and modern services, making positive contributions to economic growth, job creation, and promoting economic restructuring in Vietnam. A notable symbol of successful bilateral cooperation is the Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Park (VSIP) system.
The state visit of General Secretary, President To Lam to Singapore holds special significance in continuing to implement and concretize the comprehensive strategic partnership framework between the two countries.
