General Secretary, President To Lam and spouse begin state visit to Singapore

WVR - In the early hours of May 29 (local time), the special aircraft carrying General Secretary, President To Lam and spouse Ngo Phuong Ly, along with the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation, arrived at Changi Airport (Singapore) to begin a state visit to Singapore from May 29-31 at the invitation of President of the Republic of Singapore Tharman Shanmugaratnam and spouse.

During his time in Singapore, at the invitation of Director-General and CEO of the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) Bastian Giegerich, General Secretary, President To Lam will attend and deliver a keynote speech at the Shangri-La Dialogue on May 29.

Welcoming General Secretary, President To Lam and Spouse, along with the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation at the airport, on the Singaporean side were: Minister for Communications and Information Josephine Teo; Singapore Ambassador to Vietnam Rajpal Singh; Director of the Southeast Asia Directorate, Ministry of Foreign Affairs Zhou Suli. On the Vietnamese side were: Vietnamese Ambassador to Singapore Tran Phuoc Anh and Spouse; along with numerous officials and staff of the Vietnamese Embassy in Singapore.

Vietnam and Singapore are two nations with a friendly and dynamically cooperative relationship, substantial and effective within the Southeast Asian region. Over more than half a century of development, the relationship between the two countries has been continuously strengthened, expanded, and increasingly deepened, becoming a successful cooperation model within ASEAN.

The establishment of a Strategic Partnership in 2013 and its upgrade to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in 2025 marks a significant development, reflecting a high level of political trust, increasingly deep ties of interest, and a shared strategic vision between the two countries in the new context.

The state visit to Singapore by General Secretary, President To Lam holds special significance in continuing to implement and concretize the framework of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two countries.
