Vietnamese Ambassador to Tanzania welcomes Governor of Rukwa Province

WVR - On the afternoon of May 15, at the headquarters of the Vietnamese Embassy in the capital Dar es Salaam, Vietnamese Ambassador to Tanzania Vu Thanh Huyen had a cordial meeting with Mr. Charles Makongoro Nyerere, Governor of Rukwa Province, who is also the son of the beloved late President of the Tanzanian people – Mr. Julius Nyerere.

During the meeting, Ambassador Vu Thanh Huyen expressed her honour to welcome Mr. Makongoro Nyerere, emphasizing the long-standing traditional friendship between Vietnam and Tanzania, which has been built and nurtured by illustrious leaders, particularly the friendship between President Ho Chi Minh and the late President Julius Nyerere.

The Ambassador affirmed that Vietnam always values this special relationship and wishes to promote comprehensive cooperation with Tanzania's localities.

Discussing potential cooperation, Ambassador Vu Thanh Huyen highly appreciated the abundant natural resources of Rukwa Province, especially in the fields of agriculture, fisheries, and emerging mining industries.

The Ambassador noted that Vietnamese enterprises have significant strengths in agricultural technology and agricultural product processing and are ready to seek investment opportunities and economic development cooperation in Rukwa to help enhance productivity and create a sustainable value chain for the locality.

On this occasion, Ambassador Vu Thanh Huyen also expressed her hope that the Halotel branch (a brand of Viettel in Tanzania) in Rukwa will continue to actively participate in social welfare activities, accompany the community, and make more practical contributions to the overall development of the province.

For his part, Governor of Rukwa Province, Mr. Charles Makongoro Nyerere, expressed deep admiration for Vietnam's history of national liberation struggle as well as its remarkable socio-economic development achievements in recent times. On behalf of the late President Nyerere's family and the Rukwa provincial government, he thanked the Vietnamese Embassy for their gracious reception.

Mr. Makongoro Nyerere affirmed that Rukwa Province is opening its doors to welcome international investors and has high expectations for Vietnamese enterprises in infrastructure development, high-tech agriculture, and aquaculture projects.

He committed that the provincial government will provide the most favorable legal and investment environment conditions for Vietnamese businesses.

Both sides agreed to maintain close contact, promote direct connections between management agencies and the business communities of the two countries, aiming towards specific cooperation programs in the near future, contributing practically to the sustainable friendship partnership between Vietnam and Tanzania.
