Army player Tran Hung Nguyen won the gold medal in the over-18 age group in the men's 200m mixed race (2 minutes 03 seconds 35) and the men's 400m mixed race (4 minutes 23 seconds 78). Fisherman Pham Thanh Bao won the gold medal in the 100m breaststroke event for men over 18 years old with a record of 59 seconds 49. The 2024 Asian age group swimming tournament does not have the presence of top swimmers from Japan, China, Korea, and Singapore, so it opens up opportunities for Vietnamese swimmers to compete with high performance. Although the tournament is not part of the scoring system for the 2024 Paris Olympics, experts consider this an important playground for Vietnamese players to gain experience and confidence before major tournaments.
The last medal of the team went to Bui Hong Giang who took the bronze in the girls 16-18 years old platform.
The Asian championship included swimming, ping, synchronized swimming, and water polo. Vietnam took part in the first two and pocketed 15 gold, 21 silver, and 30 bronze medals to take fourth place overall.
The ping team won one gold, four silver, and seven bronze medals, ranking fifth overall.
