In an interview with The World and Vietnam Report, Ambassador Wong said that, when Singapore was asked by the US and DPRK to host the 1st Trump-Kim Summit last year, Singapore saw it as their small contribution to the pursuit of peace and stability for a denuclearised Korean Peninsula. Regional peace and stability is in the interest of Singapore, as well as the wider region.

The Summit is a step forward in the right direction in building strategic trust, and securing peace and opportunities for development.

Second, the hosting of the Summit by Singapore reaffirms its commitment to be a credible, trusted  and consistent partner on international issues.

Singapore is confident that Vietnam will host a successful US-DPRK Summit this month, and convey its best wishes for the preparations.

The diplomat also wished that the US and the DPRK success in implementing their agreements, and hope that dialogue and efforts towards peace will continue.
