Vietnam ranks among top 10 at 2025 International Physics Olympiad

All the five members of Vietnam’s national team earned medals at the 2025 International Physics Olympiad (IPhO), comprising one gold and four silver medals, placing the country among the top 10 performers, the Ministry of Education and Training announced on July 24, 2025.

Nguyen The Quan, a 12th grader from the Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted in Nghe An province, won the gold medal.

The four silver medalists are 12th-grade students, including two from the High School for the Gifted under the University of Science of the Vietnam National University, Hanoi, one from the Bac Ninh High School for the Gifted in Bac Ninh province, and another from the Quoc Hoc-Hue High School for the Gifted in Hue city.

The 55th IPhO took place in France from July 17 to 25, drawing 406 contestants from 94 countries and territories. The competition featured challenging theoretical and experimental exams, blending modern physics with real-world applications, and paid tribute to France’s scientific heritage.

Vietnam’s strong performance continues its impressive record at international academic contests.

The closing ceremony and result announcement of the 2025 IPhO will be held at 9 pm on July 24 and livestreamed on the official IPhO 2025 YouTube channel at https://www.youtube.com/@InternationalPhysicsOlympiad25.
